early church, jane singing, dave bassing
janine and family for lunch and afternoon chatting
walk on the beach with pearl
kezia had her early swimming this morning so jane took pearl for walk
i went to prison to see my friend phil
then the olds had a much needed sleep as the rain swept through the area.
late afternoon we went for a walk round the edge of a bit of water and did various geocaches and munzis
and then this evening we’ve got some scheduled skypes
and jane went to the flicks to see a film with debbie
gorgeous morning again today so i took a few photos on the way in
the girls went to the mall as esther was meeting a friend, but a missed bus and other complications meant the friend had to abandon which was a shame
work was quiet today as lots of people had decided to take today off and have a long weekend with the public holiday yesterday. i met up with buzz at lunch for a walk round the viaduct
jane and esther took kezia to swimming then went for a walk with pearl rutherford
then this evening we watched a TV show about drug finding police dogs which included lots of footage of dogs finding things on people visiting the prison i’m visiting tomorrow. exciting.
public holiday for anzac day today.
jane went for an early run and then a walk with pearl rutherford and esther
then we all headed out for a walk round the back of a mobile coffee van to a small waterfall
followed by a visit to the marvellous Warkworth museum which we’ve often been to (usually to take visitors to look at the giant kauri) but never been in
it’s a fascinating (and classic kiwi) junk shop of a museum and is marvellous
after that we drove over to a disused cement works for a walk round a geocache
then this evening we’ve had a music practice
you may remember i mentioned there were plans to build some houses on the hill behind our house (to the right of our back garden). well, it looks like we’ll be seeing houses to the left first as they’ve started clearing trees there.
you can’t fight progress, and it’s not directly looking over our garden. hey ho.
i entered a couple of photos in to the fortnightly competition at the north shore photography club this evening. bit of a mean judge (according to people who go regularly) but disappointing none the less. photo above got an ‘acceptable’ which is the lowest grade and he wouldn’t even grade the one below as he thought it was a really badly photoshopped image (it’s not and it looked liek that in real life). anyway. i’ll try harder next time!
i’ve no idea what jane and the girls got up to today as we’ve not yet overlapped with each other and had a chance to talk to each other.
there was some swimming this evening for kezia though and i think jane and esther walked round lake pupuke with Pearl Rutherford whilst they were waiting.
meanwhile it continues to rain rather hardly
public holiday tomorrow. yay
Hello. Poor Dave went to work. Us girls however, met up with the Eavery girls and went to Westwave, which is a fun pool with flumes etc. Then everyone came back here for lunch and then girls left with Eaverys for a sleepover at their house.
Dave and I watched a film together.
Esther has started a trend
thunder today
esther has grown a moustache. going to be tricky to compete with that next movember
after church we went round to our neighbours to have a look round their house as they were out. it’s for sale. you can see more here:
we bumped in to the neighbours on their other side whilst we were there! mostly it’s just people having a nose round a neighbour’s house. but that’s ok. it’s expected
then this afternoon we went for a walk with pearl to a new reserve
the place is mostly for bikes, but there is a nice walking track too which you can take dogs on
whilst we were there we got a text from civil defence saying there were violent thunderstorms on their way with possibilities of mini-tornadoes
but they didn’t turn up
which was lucky. although we did see some evidence of the tornado from last November
and as we left the clouds were looking a bit threatening
this evening we watched some telly, did some skyping and played pictionary
and kezia has been playing on her new ipad mini, which she needs for school
shame i have to go back to work tomorrow whilst everyone else enjoys their holidays!
not much to report today. early swimming/dog walking for kezia and jane. then some ipad sorting with kez so it’s all up and running for her tomorrow.
otherwise some family film watching , then the girls went to a party and jane and i watched a film ourselves.
and it rained. apparently causing flash flooding in some places. but not where we were, although we did hear some thunder.
and we found some UK Confectionery in a local shop
last day of term for the girls who now have 2 weeks holiday
jane did usual animals and fitness
i went out to lunch with my work chums as simon (on the left) is leaving in a few weeks time and sasha (on the right) is on holiday for 3 weeks time so we won’t all be together working in the same place again. real shame as sasha, simon and i all started about the same time and were a good team. simon’s only working in town though so i’m sure we’ll see plenty of him (though being a lawyer we might have to pay by the hour)
kezia had swimming this evening and esther went round the shops with some school chums
and there’s a severe thunderstorm warning for this evening and it’s been a bit rainy during the day. the fire ban gets cancelled from midnight though, so that’s good (if you like fires)
