day started with my church men’s group, then plenty of meetings, then lunch with Reuben our church pastor, then more meetings and then home

anna (my desk neighbour) got some butterflies in the post).

    130515_s95_img_8638

esther had her church youth group and kezia watched x-factor.  jane’s out at her book club.

    130515_s95_img_8635

not sure what she did during the day

  • whoops

Whoops, no-one did the blog yesterday.

Girls went to school and had violin after and Kezia also had swimming.

I went to the gym and also to the dentist with Kezia as some of her brace had popped off.

Pearl and I went to dog training in the evening.

    Dave went to work.130514_s95_img_8620

  • police monday

    130513_s95_img_8588

hello – two big police related stories today.  stay tuned …

    130513_s95_img_8604

the first rather worrying news came as a text message later morning from kezia’s school saying there was a police lock down due to an armed police response across the road from the school.  that lasted from 11.20 to 3pm.

kezia didn’t seem very phased and it sounded like pupils were emailing and texting each other and friends in other schools (esther heard that way).  i got an email from kez saying she was all good.

    130513_s95_img_8554

you can read the story here: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10883339

    130513_s95_img_8556

here’s one of the updates from school.  They did great at keeping us all informed

    Dear Parents / Caregivers.
AJHS remains in lock down. All students and staff are well, calm and settled.
The Police Operation is not on the school grounds but somewhere in the local neighbourhood. I cannot give you any more information about this.
At this time I cannot say when the school will be released, but will let you know as soon as this happens.
I am aware that the school day ends in an hour.
I believe that Albany Highway is currently closed.
We will be keeping the school in lock down until otherwise directed by the Police.
I understand your frustration and concerns but the Police have the situation under control and the school is in no harm.
    We are all well.
    Kind regards,
    Mike and the team

the other police related thing was me going to Mount Eden Correction Facility (ie prison) to support my friend Phil

    130513_s95_img_8567

he had a parole hearing this morning.  he didn’t have a lawyer though so it was just me –  needless to say he didn’t get let out!  The main reason being that he didn’t have any accommodation available so he’ll have to wait until end of June instead

    130513_s95_img_8583

after the prison thing i drove up the nearby Mount Eden which is a volcano i’ve not been up before.  it was really nice

    130513_s95_img_8587

and there was an old lady artist sitting under an umbrella being photogenic

    130513_s95_img_8590

jane had a good day as she went for a long walk with her friend lorraine.  they took pearl and lorraine’s dog and it was jolly good.

    130513_s95_img_8597

this evening esther had her new tennis training but kezia missed her zumba class that she was hoping to go to due to the lock down i think.  jane went for a speedy run whilst esther was tennis-ing.

  • sunday – mother’s day

    130512_s95_img_8523

today was mother’s day.  hoorah for mothers.

    130512_s95_img_8547

jane sang at church this morning and then after church we went to our friends the eaverys who move back to the UK in less than a month

    130512_s95_img_8528

after lunch we went for an ice-cream and walk on Takapuna beach

    130512_s95_img_8542

then this evening it’s music practices/getting ready for school tomorrow and X-factor on the televisual set.

  • saturday

    130511_s95_img_8506

hello.  lovely day today.  bit chilly in the morning but nice and warm by the end of the day

    130511_s95_img_8477

lie-ins all round this morning for those still in the house.  esther said she didn’t actually get to sleep until 5am at her sleep over in a holiday park with her old school friends

    130511_s95_img_8478

jane took pearl for a long walk this morning then i went to Orewa with Warren to pick up esther

    130511_s95_img_8485

we looked at some disturbing art.  actually most of it was normal, it was the waxy sculptures of old people with sheep’s heads which was the disturbing bit

    130511_s95_img_8488

after we’d dropped warren off esther and i went for a quite trip to the supermarket . saturday is a great time to go as they have loads of free samples and we had pizza, some chickeny things and some posh chocolates!

    130511_s95_img_8490

on the way back from orewa esther got invited to hang out with her new school friends in takapuna

    130511_s95_img_8499

so we all went over there and the rest of us went for a long walk along the beach before picking esther up from her friend’s house

  • Highly Commended

Hello. Today I led the music at Mainly Music and it went fine. Then at lunchtime I went to the first lunch for ladies who have non-traditional jobs from our church. My non-traditional job is virtual unemployment. Anyway, I met some new ladies and caught up with some old friends.

It has been super rainy all day.

This evening Dave went to the photographic society and this time his photos got highly commended. Go Dave!
