This morning we were up and on the coach early to get us to The Butchart Gardens. We had a lovely buffet breakfast (one of the best for quite a while) and then a couple of hours to wander round the gardens / ride on a carousel etc.
The bus dropped us off at Fisherman’s wharf back in Victoria where we looked at the floating houses, then we had lunch in a healthy place followed by a very entertaining tour of the regional parliament buildings. The entertaining part was the 22 year old lad who was doing our tour who could have been Dwight from the American Office’s son for his enthusiasm for history and strange manerisms. Educational too.
This evening we wandered over to Chinese Town where we had a quick walk up the country’s thinnest street (seconds before it was closed for the evening), and then walked down the waterfront back to the parliament building. I then spent too long trying to line up the moon with the statue on top, of the roof whilst avoiding being run over, then we came back to the hotel.
CORRECTION 1: Out tour guide told us Victoria Island where we are currently based was the size of New Zealand’s South Island. This was incorrect. We googled it and the South Island 151,215 km² vs Vancouver Island 31,285 km². So our guide was wrong.
CORRECTION 2: I said the gas town clock was a gas clock. It was actually a steam clock. that was my error. sorry for any concern, injury or distress caused by my carelessness.
Despite me warning you that there might not be videos this week, today’s is the most elaborate so far 🙂
