Today we were up early to get to breakfast for 6.30am. This was also the deadline for getting our suitcases packed as they were collected from our room and put on the tour bus.
At 8am sharp we left for a tour of Vancouver, which took us to quite a few places we’d already been (Stanley Park, the steam clock in gas town etc) buit this time we had some commentary to get a bit more context. Then it was off to a gallery featuring the lifetime’s work of an indigenous artist.
Lunch was in an italian restaurant who did a great job of getting 43 meals ready in speedy time, then it was back on the bus to get to the port so we could get the ferry to Vancouver Island. Turns out Vancouver Island is massive – it’s the same size as the New Zealand South Island! And it contains the state capital Victoria, which is where we’d spending two nights.
The hotel we’re in is amazing – it’s more of an appartment with two double beds (one in a separate room), a kitchenette, microwave, two TVs etc.
This evening we walked to a famous fish and chip place on the waterfront and queued for half an hour to order our pacific cod and chips. it was delicious though and along the way we chatted with other international travellers and got their stories.
