Day 38 – London to Montreal

Julie kindly drove us to Heathrow to catch our plane to Montreal. There was a slightly worrying moment or two when Lufthansa wouldn’t let us check in and each place they sent us to sent us to somewhere else. eventually they told us it was an Air Canada flight so we attempted to check in with them, but then their bag ticket printer wouldn’t work etc etc. Then when we were going through security, the bag converyor belt broke so they had to poke our bags through with a stick 🙂

Other than that the flight from London to Montreal was an uneventful 7 hours. And with the five hour time difference, we ended up with a bonus evening in Montreal.

After we checked in to our hotel we went for a wander and found the city a-buzz due to it being actual Canada Day here today (the one on Sunday in London must have been a convenient weekend event). There are loads of people wandering about wearing the Canadian flag and generally having a nice time. It’ll be interesting to see over the next few days whether this is just normal for a sunny evening in Montreal.

Also everyone speaks French which is genuinely fun. And Jane at poutine this evening.

As it’s the first of the month, you might be interested in how many steps i’ve walked over the last few weeks. You can see how things ramped up from the end of May vs my usual sedentary life (i had covid in early May so didn’t go anywhere and didn’t wear my watch).

It’s only 9pm but it feels like 2am so i’ll catch up with the video editing tomorrow. Here’s some pictures for now. [of course, i couldn’t help myself and did the video anyway. it’s the equivalent of 2.45am now so i’m going to bed)
