hello.  i worked from home today which was nice as i could get up late.  millions to do though so still felt quite a stressful day.

this evening i watched the first episode of ‘Top of the Lake’ which was being filmed when we were down in Queenstown last year.

Busy day today.  Kezia went to her old school. Esther and I went to Ruth’s house.  Poppy (the dog) and Pearl (the girl) were there too.  Then I left Esther there and went to Lynda’s to have lunch with some former music group chums. Back to pick up girls and on to eaverys house. The Ports came for dinner too. So nice to see everyone.

busy day at work.  early start with a chilly walk (6 degrees) from the bus station to work.

this evening tim came round with some bags of rubbish for me to put out, and then i went to the supermarket

the weather has been a bit wild in wellington the last few days.  glad i’ve not been down there again.  the picture of the storm was so violent on the front page of our local paper that it burst through the cover.

and it’s good to know a technitian is on his way.  that’s a person who lives in technit i think.

slightly colder here than in the UK – i got hailed on as i did a quick walk round the block this afternoon.

today for me has been church, then various admins (all my scanning and filing and form filling is done now i think).

this evening Tim came round with fish and chips and helped me lift the guinea pig hutch in to the garage as there’s strong winds and colder weather brewing

these trees were packed full of birds as i walked past.  then they did that amazing flock of birds shape thing as they flew away.  that was nice.

this evening i google hangouted (that doesn’t sound quite as good as ‘skyped’ does it!) jane and esther and then skyped my dad.

i woke up at 8am today.  i’ve not woke up that late for ages so that was good.

    130713_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9699

i had a chat with jane before she went to bed in the UK, then did our UK tax returns.  jane is due 50 pence tax back which is tremendous news.  i wonder if they’ll pay it before she leaves britain, or whether we’ll have to convert it over to new zealand dollars to spend it.

    130713_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9701

this afternoon i went to Brown’s Bay for a walk around as it turned out to be quite a sunny day.  i mostly walked round the streets, but did finish off with a walk down the beach where there were loads of dog walkers with variously behaved animals.

    130713_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9702

in other news i put a thing on the guinea pig cage so the roof doesn’t drop on your head when you’re changing the food.  jane thought i might get round to mending that once i had experienced the pain of lifting it every day!

as the saying goes, if a man says he’ll do something then he will.  there’s no need to remind each year it still needs doing

i also got round to editing some of the photos i took at the lighting thing on monday evening. above is the photo as it came out of the camera, and here’s the one after editing:

    130712_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9683

i had the day off work to go to Warren’s funeral.  There is always hope in a christian funeral, but of course mixed with sadness of not seeing the person in the short term.  the service was really good with some lovely speeches by various friends and family, then some mourning tea before going over to the burial which was just a few minutes walk from our house.

in fact warren is now buried on our main Pearl walking route through the cemetery so he’ll remain front of our thoughts.

    130712_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9681

this afternoon i did various errands including taking some dvds back to the shop and picking up the dry cleaning.

    130712_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9685

then this evening we had our church quiz which involved a bit of lugging sound equipment in and out, but otherwise i didn’t have to do anything other than enjoy the evening.  Our friend Tim came along too and it was nice to catch up with him.

    130712_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9684

i think jane’s going to update the family blog separately.  i managed to video conference esther and jane from the cafe just before the quiz started and they all seemed in good spirits having had good flights and a nice sleep.

  • thursday – nz

not much to report from me.  got up usual early, only difference being i could switch all the lights on and play music whilst i was eating breakfast.  full day at work, then home again!  Watched the apprentice, did some admin then bed!

i drove in to work today and went straight to my desk, so no photos today i’m afraid.

hopefully the british travellers will have something more interesting for you 🙂

i had some emails from kezia in hong kong saying their first flight had gone well, so that’s all good.

    see ya
