both girls had swimming this evening so jane went to the gym and i went for chips with warren in a hotel lobby

Look at this cool girl. Kezia had her first day at Albany Junior High today. It seems to have gone very well. Esther made it to school and back on the bus.

I have been for 2 walks with Pearl and a coffee with Debbie.

Dave went to work and came home.

  • New things

    Well, exciting day today.

Dave ordered his first salad from Subway.130130_s95_img_5967

Esther started her new school and had a good day. Good for you Esther!

    Kezia got her braces.

    130130_s95_img_5975

This was a far less painful and traumatic exercise than she had imagined, which is great.

  • Obedience

    130129_s95_img_5958

This morning us girls went to the school bus stop to check up on the bus Esther will be catching. All good there. Then I went to my church office job and a friend came to look after the girls. This afternoon Pearl had her stitches out and the girls had violin lessons.

This evening Kezia and I took Pearl to her first dog obedience class. It was a bigger set up than I had realised. Kezia counted 39 dogs in 6 different classes.  Pearl did not disgrace herself. Phew.

Dave went to work and came home tired.

  • monday – auckland anniversary day

    public holiday today. perfect weather

jane and the girls went to the beach with chums

i went to the Laneway music festival in town with my next door neighbour and his cousin.  it was a scorching day and after 7 hours in the sun we decided to head home.  and i’m now listening to the headline ‘tame impala’ live on the radio rather than squashed in a carpark with 10,000 other people.  probably for the best.

    130128_s95_img_5890

for those that are interested in such things, i saw kings of convenience (excellent), street chant (rubbish),

    130128_s95_img_5949

    the eversons (very excellent)

    130128_s95_img_5891

    lawrence arabia (very excellent)

    130128_s95_img_5895

    130128_s95_img_5897

Phoenix Foundation (good, last song very excellent)

    130128_s95_img_5898

real estate (ok), alt-j (excellent), divine fits (disapprovingly way below average), bailterspace (very excellent), yeasayer (not my cup of tea)

    130128_s95_img_5900

highlight for me because of the unpredictable noise was ‘a place to bury strangers’ who managed to smash up four guitars between them whilst playing 130128_s95_img_5902

     130128_s95_img_5913

    half a bass guitar

     130128_s95_img_5917

it was one of those concerts where you’re glad there’s a safety fence between you and the band, to keep the band from coming in to the crowd (which they still managed to).

here’s the finale including the forced removal of guitar strings and chuck-age
