    130321_s95_img_7172

esther got the bus in the wrong direction home after orchestra today so had an unexpected visit to takapuna before making it back to constipation which nicely timed with my arrival there too.

i chaired a 5 hour meeting which was potentially contentious, but ended up being fine.  yay.  but still exhausting.

kezia had swimming.  jane had music practice.

  • tuesday – jane retires and the boiler gets serviced

    hello

    130319_s95_img_7158

jane had her last day at the church office today as her maternity cover comes to an end.

i went in to work early but came home at 1pm to meet the boiler servicing man who finally arrived at 4.15pm.  then spent ages fiddling with our system which clearly has some history in how it was set up.  interesting though.

    130319_s95_img_7153

the girls had their violin lessons and kezia had a good hour and a half of maths homework which we worked through at home.

pearl graduated from her dog training class which is having a break next week before starting up again.

that’s all i have to tell you today.

  • monday – bit more rain

    130318_s95_img_7150

esther was at school at 7.30am for her orchestra practice and didn’t finish until sometime after 5pm as she had tennis.  she also had a trombone lesson and is getting on so well she might do an exam later in the year

kezia had her orchestra too and swimming after school

jane did shopping, went to the gym, did various admin things in preparation for her last day at her church job tomorrow and some admin stuff for her pre-school french job

i worked from home and wrote a long document.

  • sunday – goats and earthquake

    image

exciting news – there was an earthquake this afternoon.  quite a rare event for auckland.  this one was centred just 20km from our house on the other side of a dormant volcano.  6km depth and 3.9 on the scale which classes it as ‘moderate’.

we were round some friends house and the girls were inside and felt it as the room wobbled and the light fittings swung.  we were outside round a table and i didn’t really notice anything.  jane thought it was thunder.

anyway, we’re told it’s not a volcano making its way to the surface, so that’s good news.

jane was singing at church this morning so she missed skyping her parents, but the rest of still got to chat with them

     130317_s95_img_7137

there were a couple of goats at church.  one of whom did what animals do so there was some quick cleaning up during the communion

    130317_s95_img_7139

then we had an excellent lunch and afternoon with our friends the Smiths and Eaveries.  we sat outside under a giant gazebo to avoid the rain which has been pretty constant the last couple of days.  still nice and warm though.

    130317_s95_img_7142

then this evening i skyped my dad who is now safely back in the UK and getting back in to the swing of normal life again

the girls spent the afternoon in the house which features in the film Aliens in the Attic

    130313_s95_img_7124

busy day at work including a 2 hour conference call to start the day which i was chairing.

i found this ‘i’m special’ badge in the bus station car park.  it had been run over a lot.

    130313_s95_img_7123

and i got my first ever box of corporate tissues.  i didn’t ask for them.  they just turned up.  just hope it’s not preparation for tears as a result of pending company reorg aka job losses.  should find out by the end of the month …

girls busy with orchestra and swimming.  jane had a busy day and is out at band practice

my colleague sasha was behaving strangely this morning.  he’s sporty.

  • Just words

Dave has gone to bed early and I don’t think he’s written the blog and I can’t find any photos. So  just writing for you today – and that’s not very interesting.

Dave went to work and the girls went to school. I also went back to do a bit more at the church job and taught my pre-schoolers this afternoon, which was fun.

Esther has had tennis coaching this eve and is now at youff and I am about to collect her. Kezia has been working hard on her homework.

    See ya
