Hello. Here are the pictures from yesterday’s swim meet. They are from my phone so apologies for small Kezia!

Here she is in lane 8, the nearest one, ready to start backstroke.

  • Level 2

We got up very early today for a swim meet. It was Kezia’s first time at at Level 2 Meet and she did really well. I took some photos but they don’t seem to have made it to the computer like they sometimes do.

Esther met up with some friends this afternoon for DVD watching. Turns out they just chatted.

And Dave returned this evening – hoorah!

  • home again

quick recap of my last few days:

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9383

set off for wellington having checked the weather forecast which assures us we’ll be back in auckland before the big storm sets in

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9391

    good flight, nice fluffy clouds.

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9397

good team meeting.  i’m provided with two sorts of banana as an alternative to team cake

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9401

lunch involves a trip to the bowling alley.  i don’t do very well as bowling makes my insides hurt.  still good fun though

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9407

afternoon of team day goes well

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9417

as my colleague Gavin and I drive to the airport the storm hits and things look dangerous

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9418

and as we walk in to the airport all flights suddenly become cancelled.  we phone our office admin lady straight away to be ahead of the queue for hotel rooms, but the company that books our accommodation loses our order, so we end up booking an hour later when all the rooms are gone.

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9419

so gavin and i get a cold apartment for two.  i sit next to gavin at work and we get on great so that wasn’t a problem.  we find a pub called ‘the pub’ for some pub grub for dinner

    2013-06-20 20.47.28

as we walk back to the apartment the storm is blowing carrier bags around the place.  and the noise of wind and rain all night is amazing.

    130620_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9420

later we hear it was the equivalent of a Hurricane force 1 and there’s lots of damage in wellington.

    130621_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9430

we walked in to the office on friday via the waterfront.  many of the benches had been blown over – some had even taken the bricks they were attached to with them!

    130621_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9432

and a big ferry had broken lose and was bobbing about in the harbour

    130621_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9436

the gales were still blowing and were forecast to blow all afternoon so i decided to book my flight for saturday to be safe rather than spending the day at the airport again

    130621_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9437

i used the day in wellington as an excuse to catch up with colleagues down there.

this is the beehive, nz’s parliament building

    130621_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9447

friday evening it was still really windy, but the airport was open so i could have got home.  but i was checked in to my hotel and had my flight booked for saturday afternoon so i stuck to the original plan

    130621_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9448

my hotel was much warmer and nicer on friday night. i watched home and away and neighbours and friends then went out for dinner, but was back for an early night

     130621_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9453

then today i woke up and watched knight rider on the telly before heading over to Te Papa for the Andy Warhol exhibition

    130622_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9458-2

i got some provisions from the supermarket on the way and enjoyed reading the customer adverts

    130622_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9482

i spent nearly 4 hours in the museum in the end

    130622_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9493

i had planned to wander round the streets and even walk to the airport but the wind and rain wouldn’t let up.  although the wind wasn’t nearly as strong as thursday/friday it did make outside feel very cold

    130622_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9499

i did go for a quick wander round the streets though

    130622_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9503

before catching the bus to the airport

    130622_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9512

and once the plane was above the rain the flight was smooth and the clouds were lit by the full moon.

    130622_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9513

on the way home i drove by the trampoline place to pick up kezia’s jumper which she left last week, and it’s great to be back home again with the family.

jane will update on her day separately

  • Friday – Wellington

    image

I spent the day working in our wellington office. the weather was still wild this morning as we walked in.

Apparently the wind was so strong last night it registered as equivalent to a hurricane category 1 or 2. and it’s certainly felt like it on the hotel overnight.

rather than risk getting stuck at the airport again I booked a flight for saturday, thinking it better to spend an extra night here rather than risk not having accomodation if the flights were cancelled. In fact flights were greeting through by the end if the day.

Anyway it gives me a day for site seeing tomorrow! and hotel I’m in tonight is much nicer than last night’s.

Hello.Dave here. I flew down to Wellington today for a team meeting despite lots I if severer weather warnings etc.

The flight doing was all loverly and Wellington even managed to be a bit sunny for us during the day.

However just as we were driving to get our plane home the Antarctic winds blew in and hurricane force winds gross all the flights.

There followed several hours of faffing about in the airport with the end result of a colleague and me sharing an apartment in Wellington tonight and trying to fret home again tomorrow pm. However the forecast says the mad winds are due to continue too tomorrow night so we’ll just have to see.

Even wellingtonians agree this is windy. That’s saying something!

Hello. Today I did Mainly Music, which was fun. Then I went to lunch with a group of ladies from church. The title for the group is ladies who work part-time or who have unconventional jobs – or something like that. Anyway, I met a nice lady I had never spoken to before and she invited me to a French choir. Then I did my preschool class and this evening I have been to a meeting to learn how to be a good swimming parent.130619_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9374

    130619_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9376

Dave went to work and is still not feeling great. The girls went to school and Esther went to yoof this evening.

    130619_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9379

Kezia has to make a diorama of early settlers. Here she is covering rice with brown paint to make it look like mud.

  • Tired Tuesday

    130618_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_9361

Hello. I did exercise today and housework and mowed the lawn and went to dog obedience. Nice and sunny in the morning, very rainy in the afternoon.

Dave worked from home and oversaw Ryan the electrician, who had come to see why our landing lightbulbs blow every couple of weeks.

    Girls had school and violin.

Everyone is very tired. Half the family were in bed by 8.30. Three quarters by 9.30.

  • Photoshop

Dave went to a camera shop today. Here are some photos of cameras.

    130302_Canon EOS 700D_IMG_9358

In other news the girls went to school and I did shopping and domestics. Very rainy all day.

  • Sunday

    130615_Canon PowerShot S95_IMG_0008

church this morning (dave playing) then this afternoon kezia went swimming with one of her friends whilst esther went to the mall with her friends.

i spent most of the afternoon asleep as i’ve been back to feeling ill again.  and jane booked a hire car for her UK visit which is just a few weeks away now.

this evening it’s the usual mix of finishing off homework and music practices.

  • Extreme Saturday

Kezia, Pearl and I got up early for swimming. Kezia’s friend Cayleen came home with us and they requested that I came later so they could have a long shower, so that was a long walk for Pearl and me.

Then I went for a run and did domestics and Dave did computerisation. Girls did homework after Cayleen had gone home and Esther and I went to check on Eavery’s house.

Then Esther’s friend Amy came over and we all went to Extreme Trampoline for a youth group outing. Dave and I had fun watching from  high up seats.
