the weather has been quite mad recently. huge sideways rain showers then moments of sunshine. that’s usual spring weather apparently, but a bit chilly at 11C for those caught out walking
jane and the girls had school. i worked from home. esther had tennis and kezia had zumba after school, whilst jane walked pearl
esther found out one of her good friend’s uncle is Marcus Lush, one of the few NZ ‘celebrities’ who we would recognise
church this morning with lots of tall basketballers
then after lots of chatting we headed home and were joined by Tim who is back in NZ after a trip to Australia (the rest of his family are now back in the UK)
it’s Tim’s birthday tomorrow and mine was a week or so back. Jane had been promising me a fantastic birthday cake since then, and today was the ideal opportunity!

just as we were about to cut in to it Janine and family arrived so they stayed for our poo poo party
Janine was dropping off a copy of her new book: A Special Adventure for Hugo Hugs which she let me take pictures for. I’ll post the link for where to buy it when i have it.
when they left we went for a wet weather stomp round Poo Lakes (see the theme) with Tim. This isn’t a poo pipe.
kezia and jane were up early to take kezia to her 6.30 swimming and i picked her up at 8.
the swimming pool is in this tent, so it’s well ventilated!
jane had a teacher’s day at school today and the girls both went to see friends at the mall and watch films
then this evening the girls and i went to watch a christian basketball team play a local team which was good fun
the ball got stuck at one point which we found very funny.
i worked from home and the neighbours moved out
pearl slept in the sunlight. everyone else went to school
after school kez had swimming and jane and esther walked pearl
then this evening has mostly been about the girls arranging what friends to meet where and when tomorrow
i ended up having coffee with my friend wayne this morning as my friend phil overslept and wayne was in the wrong place by mistake!
otherwise, a really busy day with two meetings where people were shouting at each and having hissy fits. would be amusing if it was funny.
jane had a good day at school and is starting to feel a bit more on top of things.
kezia had swimming and i met esther after school where she’d had orchestra and a mufti day.
usual wednesday morning church men’s breakfast for me. some of it was spent facebook messaging each other even though we were there.
rest of the day was really busy with meetings
jane had a busy day at school. pearl was so exhausted at doggy daycare they’ve recommended she stay at home tomorrow
kezia had an open evening at her school so was a demonstration pupil in a class and esther had her church group
i went to the supermarket and got some petrol with a voucher costing just $1.88 / litre. exciting.
i went for my gastroscopy today. as there was some sedation involved i wasn’t allowed to drive myself home so jane did an elaborate journey after school via violin to collect me (then pearl)
anyway, as a result of that i decided i would walk to the hospital.
google maps reconned it was an hour and a quarter, but i did it in an hour, then wandered round the streets a bit.
and the weather was great so i loved the walk
the girls had good days and jane is as busy as ever at school. difficult to explain how busy life has got really.
my gastro thing itself went well. quite a weird thing and i’ve some nice pictures so show for it. they didn’t find anything except my breakfast which itself was interesting as it should have been long gone thanks to my pre-gastro fast. so that might point to something to investigate further when i meet with him again next week.
when i got to the hospital i saw this which presumably belongs to the rather humourless surgeon!
esther had many instruments and bags for school as usual on a monday morning so we got the bus together
kezia had school then zumba
esther had school then tennis
pearl had doggy day care
jane had school and a meeting then school prep
lots of tall people at church much to the amusement of otherwise quite tall youngsters

after church and lunch (two bread roles for me during my last few gluten days!) kezia and i went to the coatesville craft market
then we spent ages going round the supermarket following jane’s cleverly written shopping list/map
this afternoon kezia cooked some brownies and our evening meal
meanwhile jane spent all her spare time today doing school preparation work although she did pop out for an hour this afternoon for coffee with debbie and janine
meanwhile esther spent all of today on her Rome project which was her holiday homework
and now it’s this evening and we’re all just as exhausted as when the weekend started
we all had a lie in today. that was good
the girls and i went shopping this morning for some school related things.
this afternoon all the ladies went to a church mums and daughter’s afternoon which was good apparently
the rest of the time we’ve been doing chores / homework / school preparations
and this evening we watched the final of last month’s Apprentice
