kezia turned 12 today. that’s an old age for our youngest daughter.
she had school and a violin lesson and lots of presents
esther had a band practice before school so we got the bus together. i had a busy day at work. jane had a busy day at school.
i saw this dog wee that looks like a god. and this evening i went to camera club and learnt about cameras.
school and work for all
violin, swimming, tennis after and lots of driving for jane. music team meeting for me
ridiculous looking cruise ship in the harbour today. it’s called Celebrity Solstice. Says it all really. no idea how it stays vertical. normally big looking harbour ferry looks tiny.
everyone was back at school or work. kezia had a ‘tabloid’ sports day. yup, i’ve no idea either.
esther had violin this evening and kezia went to see the girl next door who has just started her school to see how she was getting on (but she was out).
there were lots of tired people in the house this morning due to kezia’s ‘sleep’ over.
esther and i went to church leaving them all having their breakfast
kezia and jane then met debbie at a cafe
i was on podcast duty
this afternoon everyone has been doing school work or preparatory work
i did some sorting out of photos and then went in to town to watch a performance of Terry Riley’s ‘In C’ which was excellent
lots of shambolic improvisation which was fun to watch
people playing strange instruments in strange ways
man hitting wood with a hammer to provide some occasional beats.
the concert itself was underneath one of the old cement silos
which was a bit of a wind tunnel.

this evening it’s been last minute preparations for school and extreme tiredness
and my mum went round the horn
kezia is having a birthday party sleepover party, so most of the day was spent preparing for that
kezia had her usual saturday morning swimming then esther, kezia and jane went shopping for school essentials
meanwhile i cleaned the pool and did some inside tidying and then went to pick up the cake
kezia’s friends arrived whilst jane was at a baby shower so i was life guard and official driver until jane got back
kezia’s got a few mini-parties lined up over the next few weekends, but this was a sleepover for two friends.
esther and i went to pick up the pizzas this evening. esther bumped in to an old school friend and they had a great chat. i saw a banana in a carpark.
this evening the girls have been watching a dvd while the rest of us have been watching old videos i’ve taken of the family
pearl has been well behaved. mostly because of her segregation from the hoards
and in case you’ve been wondering where my mum is, she’s been gradually working her way down south america and will soon be starting to head north again on the chile side
i worked from home, esther went to school, jane was at school preparing and kezia spent the day with friends, coming back with them in the afternoon for a swim
then in the evening we worked out our family timetable in anticipation of everything starting up again on monday.
and we also watched one of my university friends on a TV show about home decorating which was really fun to watch
jane had a full day of preparatory work at school
esther had her first full day at school too and that went well
kezia spent the day with friend and they had fun including going on some bumper cars
i had a busy day at work with loads of meetings and i spent some of my christmas money on a dry bag for an upcoming photo expedition.
this evening kezia had swimming
esther had to go in to school for a concert band practice this morning at 7.30am then came home for the rest of the day as school doesn’t start for her until tomorrow. kezia spent the day at home as she’s not back at school until monday
jane had another preparation day. i had a day of meetings including lunch with our pastor from church to talk about organising the sound team.
esther was back at school for a half day to find out her classes and do some admin. her timetable looks good and her friend lauren who has just started the same school is in her class which is excellent
kezia spent the morning with tracey and logan then came back home in the afternoon i think. esther had violin and kezia swimming this evening
jane had a good day at kristin doing sorting and this evening i went photoing with mike at takapuna beach
i went to the laneway festival today
highlights were jagwar ma, kurt vile and youth lagoon.
the girls did domestic things as they prepared for going back to school (esther starts back tomorrow)
this evening a friend came round to talk about cameras.
