Day 20 – London

I decided to walk to Smithfield Market for breakfast today so i could go to my favourite greasy spoon cafe for a corned beef roll. i went by it on Tuesday evening and it had closed an hour before its promised closing town, but i had high hopes. unfortunately they were all dashed when i got there as although the door was open there was no one behind the counter – and the only customer was fast asleep at a table. after a while the chap woke up and he was in fact the shop keeper who then informed me they had no corned beef. He offered me an alternative, but i declined. i bought a banana from a Sainsburys’ local instead.

Some good walking between meetings too, including a small diversion to find a couple of Banksy artworks and the filming location of Slough House from the Slow Horses series. And i passed by the graves of John Bunyan (Pilgrim’s progress), William Blake (poet) and Thomas Bayes (what are the chances of that!), and walked through Spitalfield Market.

My meetings were good today too, and i had an excellent lunch (Japanese restaurant) and chat with an old colleague – i’ve really enjoyed catching up with people this week and finding out what’s being going on with their lives. With everyone we’ve dropped back in to easy conversation despite the ten years passing between meetings.

I got back to the hotel room at 4.30pm and have been writing up my notes for a couple of hours ahead of a work call at 10pm my time. Then bed. Last full day in London tomorrow. I’m going to really miss the old place
