here’s a day in two halves because i took too many photos and have been a bit rubbish at editing them down.
the day started with some skyping of my dad, and jane went out for a run
then i went to pick up kezia from her sleep over party. the party with in a life-style block which is a sort of mini-farm / small holding type thing which is popular. they had cows
kezia said she only got an hour’s sleep so we were fearful for a tricky day, but actually she was fantastic.
we drove over to bethell’s beach which is directly west of where we live. it’s the next beach south from muriwai which is the place with the gannet colony we’ve visited a number of times.
anyway, the weather looked a bit dodgy so we went for a walk to see what we could see
and mostly what we could see was the sea.
but it was very dramatic west coast big wave crashing sea. with a great skies
to get to this beach we had to wade through a really fast flowing river which meant shoes and socks off and rolled up trousers. the water was cold, but the black sand was fairly warm thanks to the sun so it was all good
we then watched the waves for a bit before climbing over a mini dune back to bethell’s beach and the car park
jane had made us a nice picnic which we ate on a picnic table
to be continued …
