boats and beach

everyone was up quite early this morning, but not overly so given our visitors jet laggery (they’ve coped very well).

whilst we waited for a man to arrive and then mend jane’s car’s aircon the youngsters played nicely

then we all headed in to town, initially to go up skytower

101229_100_img_1558

but by the time we got to the queue at the bottom we realised we probably didn’t have enough time, so we decided to come back a different day

101229_100_img_1561

instead we had lunch in the shade before catching our bus for the harbour cruise

a few of today’s photos are from Andrew (check the photo file name and they are the ones with 100’ in the middle)

101229_100_img_1571

we’d been on this cruise when we came for our reccy trip back in easter 2008 so it was good to go back now we know the places either side of the harbour

101229_100_img_1574

and it was good going under the bridge rather than over it for a change

101229_450d_img_0510

the trip included a 10 minute stop on Rangitoto volcano so people can say they’ve set foot on it

101229_450d_img_0512

everyone was flagging after the boat trip, so we headed back home for some afternoon tea

101229_100_img_1596

then we headed over to Long Bay for a swum and some sand sculpturing

101229_100_img_1597

after swimming the big girls built a sand boat

101229_100_img_1598

101229_100_img_1601

and the littlies build sand bobble hats

i was a guest judge at the end and the quality of workmanship from both entrants was very high

101229_100_img_1615

and then it was home for tea

    Hi Dave/Jane/Esther/Kezia.
I’m not sure I could get used to hot Christmas,
although some of the benefits are obvious – not least in the pictures above.
No doubt the fun and excitment is the same whatever.
We went to my brother’s (+ his tribe) on C’mas day,
and they are coming over to us on New Years day.
Eileen is in Brazil for Christmas, so she is having a hot one.
She is staying with one of her cousins, and having a great time.
Another cousin of E+J has a girl-friend over from Auzzie.
What international lives we live now-a-days.
Your Kiwi dream seems to be living on well.

Jen has just arrived to use my computer for her next MA assignment,
    so must go.
Much love to you all, and best wishes for a happy new year.

excellent to hear from you and yes, it is nice and warm here at the moment. but not all the time as the weather is still settling down before we get in to summer proper. exciting about eileen in brazil and Jen doing her MA. It’s all go as usual.

much love to you all too ! djek
