this blog is good for us telling you things that we think you should know about how we are getting on. but have we told you everything you want to know ? eg what’s the milk like, do people kiss each other on the cheek or shake hands when greeting each other etc.

feel free to leave your questions in the comments below or drop us an email, and we’ll see what we can answer.

file under ‘clutching at straws to think of interesting things to say’.

    hi brotheredd

as per your recommendation it’s a 32 inch panasonic with built in freeview HD. 1/3 off because the box was broken.

no idea what model it was, but i think it’s quite modern as it’s got a colour screen and built in speakers.

    hi julie

pets are on hold as our new rental house isn’t the country estate we’d envisaged. however, i think esther is talking up the idea of guinea pigs but we’ll wait until we’re in to make our final decision.

there’s a thing in our rental contract that we’re responsible for clearing up after any infestation. the estate agents helpfully clarified that it wouldn’t be unsurprising to get some bush cockroaches in the house, but we shouldn’t worry as this is unlikely to be an infestation. so we may have some insects for pets whether we want them or not.

and we had some teeny weeny little ants in the house one day. being so teeny (about a millimetre long) they were quite cute rather than jucky. but we still dealt with them firmly despite their stumpy stature.

Do they have many English programmes on TV ?
Did you feel the earthquake last week which occured on the Northern Island?

    Hi Steve

To be honest we haven’t watched much telly. even kezia (who is the main family telly-watcher) has only watched one thing, and that was an episode of masterchef ! We’ve got satellite channels here which includes UKTV. You can see what they offer here: http://www.uktv.co.nz/tvguide/ As you can see, it’s all quality stuff.

we didn’t feel the earthquake, nor did we know about it until you mentioned it ! So i did a quick google and found this: http://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake/quakes/recent_quakes.html there’s a reason why they call it the shaky isles.

the other reason they call it the shaky isles is because they seem to be trapped in a musical time warp. shakin’s stephens anyone ?

apologies for the delay in responding. People do seem to eat a lot of fruit (as much as i’ve seen) and it’s also really tasty.

Someone offered me a carrot stick at work yesterday.

I’ll investigate the cost of kiwis for you

Thanks for the info so far. A single kiwi fruit from tesco is 25-30p at the moment, for comparison purposes. Loving the language of your recommended website. Here’s a sample: “The crisis was about chemical residues in kiwifruit in an ostensible reason, but the basic factor was the relative market force of New Zealand and Italy as kiwifruit producers. However, New Zealand’s dominance was alarmed by a sudden rise of kiwifruit plantings in Europe.”
