exciting news – there was an earthquake this afternoon. quite a rare event for auckland. this one was centred just 20km from our house on the other side of a dormant volcano. 6km depth and 3.9 on the scale which classes it as ‘moderate’.
we were round some friends house and the girls were inside and felt it as the room wobbled and the light fittings swung. we were outside round a table and i didn’t really notice anything. jane thought it was thunder.
anyway, we’re told it’s not a volcano making its way to the surface, so that’s good news.

jane was singing at church this morning so she missed skyping her parents, but the rest of still got to chat with them
there were a couple of goats at church. one of whom did what animals do so there was some quick cleaning up during the communion
then we had an excellent lunch and afternoon with our friends the Smiths and Eaveries. we sat outside under a giant gazebo to avoid the rain which has been pretty constant the last couple of days. still nice and warm though.
then this evening i skyped my dad who is now safely back in the UK and getting back in to the swing of normal life again
that’s all i have to tell you
