Today was my first day solo in my church admin job. It went ok, I think, although of course I was super slow at everything.

Dave is going well with his work challenges including spending 30 mins a day with his children.

Amy came back to our house after school again today and we entertained her by suggesting she and Esther did their homework. We know how to have fun here.

Here is the British shelf in New World supermarket. It shows what they think we miss from the old world.

  • teacher only day

It was a lovely day today, just right for not going to school, which was great, because Esther had a teacher only day. Poor Kezia did not.

Amy came round for the day and I took them to mini golf this morning. Lauren and Tracey joined us for the afternoon and the girls had a swim.

Then homegroup this evening – dave had his men’s group this morning too.

And, after nearly half a term, I have got some supply work. It’s on Wednesday. Hoorah!

  • players of the day

    busy fun packed day today

    120304_s95_img_9377

church this morning was good.  i was on sound and jane was officially introduced by one of the church elders as the new church media coordinator.  here she is with a very pregnant anna who is about to go on maternity leave

    120304_s95_img_9400

i thought i had a training thing at lunchtime but that’s actually next week so that gave me some time back

    120304_s95_img_9403

(one of the things i’ve found most amazing about our pool is the number of wings we find floating in it.  i think they are from drowned fairies)

    120304_s95_img_9406

kezia spent all afternoon at her friend emily’s house. they’ve got a nice cute puppy (a rottweiler!).  120304_s95_img_9407

meanwhile esther had a friend over who brought some nice korean treats

    120304_s95_img_9438

and jane and i cleaned the pool with a new exciting hose attachment which has been sitting in the pool shed for 6 months and we’ve only just realised what it’s for.

    120304_s95_img_9436

then i picked kezia up from emily’s and took her to flippa ball

    120304_s95_img_9437

and her team won 4-2 with kezia scoring three of them!

    120304_s95_img_9434

i don’t think this picture is of one of kezia’s goals but it would be good if it was.  i think it’s actually of someone failing to pass it to kez and chucking it over the goal.  but given it would be so good if it was we should pretend it is anyway.  and the picture below shows three players marking kezia (who blue hat number 9)

    120304_s95_img_9429

then this evening we had dinner outside as an autumnal chill started to kick in.  then there was some guinea cuddling and bed.

  • windy day

it turned out to be a windy day, but auckland managed to avoid the worst (or at least not as bad as those further south).

    120303_s95_img_9357

jane went to a gym to do some ‘spinning’ which is cycle machine work early and then we all drove off to red beach to drop kez off at a party

    120303_s95_img_9361

the party was three hours long giving the rest of us time for lunch (my pie and chips above) and a wander round orewa

    120303_s95_img_9364

we also drove down to manly beach whilst dodging really heavy rain showers and mad winds

    120303_s95_img_9367

after that we drove back home before kez went off to Flippa Ball training with their coach at an outdoor pool (luckily the weather has been calming down a bit).  meanwhile esther and i went to get some bits of the church sound system.

    120303_s95_img_9370

and then this evening we watched some telly, read a bit of the paper, played wii dance and generally felt quite tired.

    120303_s95_img_9375

  • calm before the storm

    120302_s95_img_9352

that weather bomb i mentioned yesterday is due to arrive tonight.  i went round the garden last night tidying away stuff and lowering the trampoline nets just in case.  and the guineas have relocated to the garage.  probably none of this is necessary, but it didn’t take long and better safe than sorry. read more here .  according to civil defence announcements, we’re told to expect power outages, wave surges, gale-force winds gusting up to 150km/h (though hopefully less in auckland) and heavy rain.  the fun never stops.

if we don’t update tomorrow, we’ve blow(e)n away.

anyway, i went to work today.  here’s my colleague sasha with his feet on my visitor tuffet.   i had to present the culmination of something i’ve been working on for the last 18 months to the Board of the Telecoms industry group.  It was a rather high pressure 45 minutes, but everything got approved and the CEO said it was an ‘outstanding piece of work’! yay.

jane had a prayer meeting this morning then met her chum fleur.  this afternoon has been domesticness.  this evening whilst the girls was swimming she did something like ‘N15’ (i don’t think that’s what it was called) which involved stepping on a step and lifting mini weights.  nope, i’ve no idea either.

right, time to unplug some computers and head for bed.  see ya

  • yoga

    120301_s95_img_9348

jane went to joga today as she’s signed up for a 10 day trial at the millennium gym, which is the same place the girls have their swimming lessons.  she said it was good.  i worked from home as i was still feeling a bit off colour first thing.

    120301_s95_img_9349

after lunch kezia came home as it was ‘three way conferences’ which is like a speed dating version of parents evening.  it was a very good 10 minutes though and kezia got really good feedback from her teacher.  she’s set herself some good goals going forward too.

after work i emptied a bit of water out of the pool as it’s been filling up with rain.  we’re due a weather bomb at the weekend too so that will be fun.

    120301_s95_img_9350

this evening jane’s off to crafty chicks.

oh, and i got a replacement hard drive for my computer under warranty.  they even managed to recover all my data from the dodgy drive, so i’m back in business.  i’ve added a few pictures back to entries over the last couple of days in case you are interested.

  • Bit ill

Jane did ‘mainly music’ this morning. girls had school then Kez had swimming. violin was canceled today). Jane and I both have been suffering from stomach aches.

We were due to have morning tea worth our new team member again today but your of the five of us in the team were off sick so we canceled it again. The poor chap must be really worried about the team he’s about to join

My computer hard drive its in the menders today and some men were doing fibre things near our house this afternoon so hopefully we’ve not too long to wait until our fibre its ready.

and jane got my hard drive back from the computer shop and i’ve got all my data back.  yay

  • breakfast with eugene

     120228_s95_img_9343

eugene our friend from wellington is up in auckland for a training course so we met for breakfast which was good.

jane didn’t mention yesterday that we had a team morning tea yesterday to welcome a new member to our team.  but the organiser forgot to invite the new chap and he was busy.  so we had our welcome morning tea without him.  excellent.

then today we went to a leaving do for a colleague who is, er, leaving.  the event was scheduled for our office kitchen and there were 30 people there and we ate cake (well, i didn’t as i’ve given it up for lent along with choco and fizzy drinks).  but the leaving chap was in wellington so he had to listen to us having fun at his expense down the phone!!!

    120228_s95_img_9344

jane had her last training work day at church today and now’s she the official ‘go to girl’ for church creative ministries stuff.  that’s exciting too.

    120228_s95_img_9341

this evening she’s had a meeting about netball at school (i think) and i’ve bought a ticket to see Radiohead when they come to Auckland next November.

photos are making a brief reappearance as the hard drive seems to be working again.  but i’ll take it along to the shop to be cloned tomorrow just in case.

  • Swimming sports

    120221_s95_img_9292

Today Esther had her school swimming sports at a nice new stadium near us. As I was free, I went along to be a timekeeper. It was fairly stress-free as I was in lane 7, and that wasn’t always used.

I met some of Esther’s teachers and she got into the final for 2 races.

Then this evening we had home group and now we are wasting time on words with friends.

  • church and party

    120221_s95_img_9288

well, i did have a load of photos today but shortly after i uploaded them the hard drive i save all my photos on died.  i’ve not backed up for a few weeks so i suspect i’ve lost tons of stuff.

    120226_s95_img_9329

i was at church from 7.15am to do sound which went well.  jane was doing sunday club and we got home around midday.  then it was a quick tidy up before my 4 of my work colleagues and their families came round for a pool party.

    120226_s95_img_9334

when they left i took kezia to flippa ball (another win) and esther went to a church fund raising film night.120226_s95_img_9335

to say we’re all tired would be an understatement.

[hard drive data recovered and photos added]
