Well, I finally went to a different hairdressers and have lost my Miss Hooley look. Hoorah!

Poor Dave worked from home again as he is still feeling a bit poorly. I don’t think he left the house all day. I, on the other hand, went to my prayer group, then to a meeting at school, then to my hair colour and cut, then to the supermarket, then to swimming and gym.

On Friday nights we have a telly dinner and it is lovely. Now it’s bedtime.

    Goodnight

  • violin exam

    120620_s95_img_2096

esther had her violin exam today.  sounds like it went ok.   esther also had her netball match this evening.  she was really good.  i was very impressed.  the team still lost 24-4 though (oops).

esther made that bag above.  it’s reversible.

jane went to the gym then took esther to her violin, then saw her friend fleur.

i went to work and felt ill so came back and worked from home instead.  and my tooth is still really hurting.

kezia and jane went to jane’s music practice this evening.  it was in full swing when we collected kezia and sounded great

  • the smell remains

i arrived home later than expected last night because kezia’s friend threw up  out of the car (mostly)on the way home from their awards thing.  she was fine, but the car was a little ‘soiled’.

Warren had come along for the drive with me, but he was excellent and disappeared off to a petrol station near the car park we’d stopped in to get a clean up kit of babywipes, toilet rolls and water! Jane kindly did some additional cleaning when we got home and it’s spent most of the day in the garage with the windows open.

anyway, i work up at 5am this morning feeling a bit peaky so i decided to work from home to be safe.  i ended up feeling ok but was able to work from home so that was fine.

jane had her mainly music thing and finished off church music things, then this afternoon went to school.

esther got her school report and got ‘excellent’ for everything.  so that’s good.

both had their violin lessons and kezia had swimming

esther has a violin exam tomorrow …

i’m not quite so obsessed by the UK / NZ exchange rate these days, but i did spot this rather dramatic fall today (bad for people bringing their pounds to new zealand)

jane’s gone to a book club

  • Travelwise awards

    120612_s95_img_2033

Dave had a sore tooth today, so had to be brave and have another trip to the dentist’s. He survived.

Esther had an exam at school which she remembered about today. She had tennis after school, which was a bit rainy. Kezia has been at an awards ceremony this evening because she is a Travelwise co-ordinator. The Mayor of Auckland was presenting the awards. They are still not back and it’s 9.45 on a school night!

kezia played at a lunchtime violin concert.  jane went along and said it was very good.

esther missed an (optional) exam because no one told her it was on!

morning men’s prayer thing for me, then busy day at work.

    Bible study group this evening

that’s betty in the picture above.

  • church and flippa ball

    120617_s95_img_2089

Jane was singing at church this morning so she had an early start.  church was good.  that’s our pastor with loads of lollies (sweets) in a jar

we had a new chum back after church so i could help her with computer things so she could create our church podcast.

then when she left there was some snoozing and flippa ball (another loss for kezia’s team unfortunately)

this evening we had heinz tomato soup as it’s still quite chilly out.

kezia wrote a letter to school asking if she can help on the school year book.  she needed some references so esther also wrote a letter to support her/

  • swimming and sounds

    120616_s95_img_2087

busy day. lie in until 8.30am, jane running, dave sound editing, dje whizzing to the mall to buy a new car stereo, rushing back for kez to go to her swimming competition, man arriving to install car stereo, dave and esther going to some photo exhibitions and buying some light bulbs. more sound editing, family film watching.

kezia got three personal bests in her swimming including one where she nearly halved her time.

the film we watched was ‘We Bought a Zoo’ which was jolly good.

  • friday

    120615_s95_img_2078

we had a pub quiz at the end of the work day today which was jolly good

    120615_s95_img_2085

other than that, it was usual friday stuff – work, school, swimming.  jane is feeling mostly better but skipped gym as a precaution.

    120615_s95_img_2083

i tried another salad dressing at the korean cafe i go to for my lunch.  but i didn’t like it.  shame.

  • Goodbye to Cookie

    120614_s95_img_2074

esther had netball this evening.  jane usually takes her but she was at a music practice so it was my turn.  esther was playing Goal D which means something apparently.  she was good despite not having played that position before.  the team lost, but played well i think (to my untrained eye).

    120614_s95_img_2077

i had a meeting today which lasted all day long and wasn’t very exciting. the girls had school.

then this evening, just as i arrived home the girls were taking Cookie the guinea pig to be buried in the scrub land behind the house.  they’d written some memories on pieces of paper which they buried with the box.

    120614_s95_img_2071

jane has been feeling a bit ill this week and has got worse today (headache/eye ache thing like i had last week i think), so early nights all round.

  • a sad day

    120613_s95_img_2051

i’m sad to report that kezia’s guinea pig Cookie passed away over night. So there’s been much sadness all day, especially for Kezia.

    120613_s95_img_2052

otherwise usual wednesday stuff.  work/school, violin, gym/swimming.   some shopping at Kathmandu (the shop) as there was a 60% discount day which was good.

    120613_s95_img_2057

esther had a market day at school where the kids set up stalls to sell stuff to other kids for charity.  esther’s little group sold some biscuity cake things (not very popular), some drinks (cheap and popular) and some cooked tinned spaghetti inside cut bread roles with cheese on (sound disgusting, but must be a kiwi delicacy as it sold very well!).

the people who made the most money were some enterprising kids who arranged with the local fish and chip shop to buy 100 portions of chips for $1 which they then sold for $2.  apparently they were all sold within seconds.  young apprentice anyone?

    120613_s95_img_2058

and i went to a lecture at the auckland library at lunchtime about historic new zealand photographers which was fascinating but rather ruined by a lady bringing her young child along who was just shouting and being a nuisance all the way through.  hey ho.
