Esther was ill in the night so she spent the day at the bach. Esther stayed with jane in the morning and me in the afternoon.
Kezia had two shopping trips in to taupo and had the same spiel from the same person twice in the info centre.
Esther watched some Miss Marples in the morning and forest gumption in the afternoon.
The holiday jigsaw has begun. And we found these trays in a cupboard
We were out of the house 9.30am which wasn’t bad with two ill people and the hour change meaning it felt like 8.30.
We stopped for obligatory wees in matamata (hobbiton) then our holiday began in earnest at rotorua for the luge
I watched as I am still feeling a bit rubbish. Esther looked like she might be flagging but came good after lunch and enjoyed racing kez and jane down the tracks.
Then it was an hour’s drive to our holiday bach in taupo. When we arrived it was freezing but Jane managed to light the fire whilst I was out with kez looking for things to light the fire with…
Now we’re a bit warmer.
Kezia is drinking hot chocolate and reading by the fire and esther has fallen asleep under a blanket on the sofa.
Rain forecast for tomorrow so perhaps a more restful day
i’ve spent most of the day in bed feeling ill, although i did upload this which kez and i did a few weeks back
kezia had her early saturday morning swim and jane walked pearl
esther went back to the opticians to check her contact lenses are ok and she’s a model wearer apparently so that’s good. although esther has been looking a bit under the weather today so hopefully she’s not going down with my lurgy
kezia and jane took pearloid to the kennels this afternoon ready for holiday
and this evening jane’s gone with debbie to watch Dave Dobbyn at the cathedral. i decided i was going to be too ill so i’ll have an early night instead and hopefully shift the cold before we head off on holiday tomorrow.
i’m not sure how much we’ll update the blog whilst we’re away, so don’t panic if there aren’t any updates until next Sunday
the girls are now on holiday for the next two weeks.
kez had swimming, jane walked pearl, esther met a friend in takapuna after school.
and i stayed at home all day as i’ve had such a stinking cold which feels like proper flu. i’m feeling loads better than i did last night so hopefully it’ll be mostly gone by sunday when we head to taupo.
School for all and work for me. Looks like I might be moving desk again so that’s a bit exciting.
Jane had some German cakery in one of her lessons. And it’s starting to feel like end of term.
I’ve got a stinking cough and cold which is perfect timing for the holidays!
But in the plus side the storms are passed and there will be no more morning America’s cup disappointments for a while…

everyone had school and esther had church youth club. i bought some stamps but they weren’t royal baby ones.
big rain storms and winds this afternoon and evening. it’s tropical storm passing right over auckland. exciting.
girls had school. kezia had a last minute dentist appointment as some of her new braces had broken. it took an hour all in to pick her up, sign her out of school, drive over there, wait in the waiting room etc. the actual appointment took around 60 seconds and involved them cutting the end off a piece of metal.
both girls had violin and kezia had swimming.
i worked from home and had a busy day.
let’s hope the storms subside soon.

pearl now goes on her bed out of her own choice
there was an amazingly loud thunder storm over night. dramatic stuff. glad we sold the trampoline last week otherwise it may have blown away!
we all woke up rather tired this morning
i was a bit worried about skyping jane’s parents this morning as it was going to clash with the america’s cup, but in the end wind in san francisco meant it was cancelled today
after church jane, kezia and i went to north head for lunch with Pearl
we then went for a nice walk round north head
kezia taught pearl to dig holes in the sand
which pearl did then stuck her head in to the freshly made hole which was only just big enough for a head
kezia wore her new shorts
this afternoon esther came back from her church group weekend
esther finally made it to the Coromondel late last night. we know this because we were waiting for her text to say she’s arrived until quite late. turned out the car she was in got lost and then was out of mobile signal coverage. anyway, they thought it was a hoot and they got there eventually
this morning everyone was up and out of our house before 7.
kezia and jane went swimming/pearl walking then did some mooching round the mall
meanwhile i met up with a Korean chap called Nori from the photo club so we could go and do some street photography
he is an absolutely amazing landscape photographer so i said i was happy to show him my approach to photography (shoot and run) if he would show me how he does his amazing landscapes (sit and wait).
we decided to do the street photography this weekend and we’ll arrange the landscape photography later
so, we wandered all over auckland taking pictures of things and people
but after 8am we went down to the watefront to watch people watching the America Cup, and NZ’s almost victory (again)
you can read about this morning’s two races elsewhere but needless to say it was very frustrating for everyone watching so we didn’t get pictures of people celebrating!

this afternoon (after snoozes) jane went out to see her friend debbie whilst i started on my photo editing
later on kez and i went to pak n save
and this evening it’s been telly and coaxing pearl on to her new bed
