what a good idea. rather than having drawers all stuck away in a pile, lay them out on the ground so you can see what's in them !

I think you meant that "elusive" pair of socks. "illusive" means "of, relating to, or in the nature of an illusion; lacking reality". Hmm, perhaps you had the right word after all...
