here's a collection of things mounted together in a display in a church. it contained a number of ceramic dolls legs.

i don't know a lot about it, but some pin little body parts to the skirt of the virgin mary for prayer. like if you have a broken leg, pin a little leg to the virgin mary's skirt ... and so on.
you see this alot in southern louisiana ... new orleans ... very catholic there.
there, less disturbed? hope so.
