camouflage on ships is a bit bizarre. they should just paint the top bit blue to match the sky and the bottom bit blue to match the water.

but this one does blends in with the buildings in the town centre.

What its main purpose is, is while it may be visible to you eyes, the gunners on the enemy ship will have difficultie finding out where different parts of the shoip are. The camouflage is still used today in many navys around the world.
