What camera are you using to take your photo's? I notice that the quality seems pretty good and I'm guessing yours must be pretty small to be portable. My cameraphone although handy is simply not cutting the mustard.

It's a Sony Cybershot DSC-P71. It takes 3Megapixel images but i never post them that large on the site. I usually resize and/or crop them to 250 pixels wide.

Here it is: http://www.funkypancake.com/blog/archives/002318.html

it's actually quite large (and old) for a compact camera. i attached it to my belt which is why i wear jumpers most of the time.

i'm probably due for a technology refresh soon, but have the dilema of wanting something which i can control more (the cybershot has a number of focus and ISO modes but not shutter/aperature priority). but that means a bigger camera.

i also want something a but smaller !

So i'm hoping Sony will sponsor my life and give me two new cameras.

i suspect this is highly unlikely.

Meanwhile i'll keep on with my trusty Cybershot - i've just taken my 13,405th shot with it.

Sounds like the Cybershot has lasted quite well really then and you've got a lot of use out of it. I guess that shows the robustness of the Sony.

I just been looking at the Sony DSC-P8 Cybershot on eBuyer for £168 seems like a good deal based on your opinions of the P71 and it's had all good reviews. I'd also like a compact camera with good features but like you said I'd be looking at paying a fair whack! A decent compact camera good in low light conditions should suit me well. The P8 could be the one, I don't need much control when I'll probably won't be sober when taking the pics!

I also need an mp3 player/portable data store too. Seems like I might be the ebuyer soon and I'm a bit skint this month :|

my cybershot isn't good for low light unfortunately. have a look at the darker month archives for proof !

good luck with your techno-purchases. shame it all costs so much. i imagine i won't upgrade my camera for another year at least :-(

Cheers. It's a bit of a shame really about the low lighting but not to worry though, I've got more dilemas now: I'm considering upgrading my phone soon to a new Nokia 7610 (when it comes out) which takes pics at a 1mega pixel. Hopefully that might be a stepping stone before the Sony and I could get a cheap MP3 player this month. Decisions...

Mase, check Iaudio, a Korean company for a possible MP3. I've been quite satisfied. Solid state, FM radio too, and it voice records! BTW, I've a Sony Cybershot DSC-P31 2 Megapixel and also like that.
