I also live near this piece of ‘rural graffiti’, and have often been intrigued as to who wrote it, and whether it might be a reference to something from the world of music or literature.

For this reason I typed ‘The whole world is lonely tonight’ into Google and was taken to this page. Talk about synchronicity!! (or maybe just coincidence, I can never tell the difference).
