  • Saturday

my fluey/throat thing got worse but i managed to do my street photography course with a croaky voice.  when i got home i lost my voice completely so that was lucky timing.  i spent the rest of the day in bed

Kezia went out to a wedding and the reception of some friends from church and had a great day of dancing and eating cake

Esther had her work Christmas party downtown and jane kindly went to pick her up at midnight.

  • melbourne – day 7

as expected.  day was mostly sitting around waiting for the next bit of the journey home to happen.  finally made it home at midnight.

sky was quite impressive as we drove home thanks to the crazy lightning storms:  https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12177070

my fluey/throat infection thing seems to be back with a vengeance so i can’t hear anything in one ear thanks to the flight.

not a very photoy day i’m afraid.

  • melbourne – day 6

a day of shopping and lots of rain in the morning where we hid in a discount mall. in the afternoon the girls did more shopping while i wandered around the laneways.  this evening just the girls went out for a meal at a place we tried to eat at last night (but the waiter didn’t visit our table for 20 minutes so we left).  I stayed at home as my stomach has decided it has had enough of eating out 🙁

Tomorrow will mostly be spent travelling home due to expected time to travel to the airport, check in, four hour flight, customs, driving home.  so don’t hold your breath for pictures

  • Melbourne – day 5

Auckland zoo today.  very hot.  30s and sunshiny.  Big rain storms on the way though

  • Melbourne – day 4

Breakfast at the ‘Good Egg’, tram to St Kilda and then tram to town.  Victoria Market, central library, some laneways.  this evening we went to kezia’s choice of restaurant (for the ribs) and then went up the Eureka tower to watch the sunset.  Photos are out of order, sorry.

By the way, most of the people in the photos aren’t our family as only kezia likes having her photo taken!

  • melbourne day 3

today we went on a 12 hours bus tour which was nearly 14 hours long which went along the Great Ocean Road to the 12 apostles (bits of sticky uppy rock in the sea).  it was very good!

also, the fish and chips we ate when we arrived on Saturday was ‘flake and chips’.  you can see pictures on our day 1.   turns out ‘flake’ is shark!

  • Melbourne Day 2

market, botanical gardens, escher exhibition, laneways stroll to amazing restaurant then walk home

  • Melbourne Day 1

    Simpson Family Adventure Log Book

so, i’ve been off sick most of the week with a terrible throat infection/sinus thing which made the flight quite painful (mainly the descent at the end).  And going up and down in the lift to our 25th floor apartment has also been a bit painful.  but generally i’m starting to feel human again.  You’ll be pleased to know!

anyway, here’s some photos of the day. i’ve not edited them to see if i can speed things up a bit.

i think it’s really hot here but it might still be my fever.  probably a bit of both.

  • Kezia in the vatican

amazingly one of my photo friends happened to be in Rome at the same time as Kezia’s choir were performing at the Vatican (thanks to Facebook for alerting me to that fact).  here’s a video and photos she sent me!
