i went on my usual friday morning walk to work so saw a few photo worthy things
meanwhile everyone else went to matakana then omaha then charlie’s ice-cream shop
shopping for everyone this morning (except me, although i did pop out from work at lunchtime)
kezia has had a stinking cold and this evening jane, esther and i have sore throats. oh dear.
kezia had a friend over this afternoon and P&P managed to get home from the mall by public transport. everyone had a swim this afternoon
there’s a temporary beach in town (because auckland doesn’t have enough beaches apparently)
and this evening we watched the final of The Apprentice
i worked from home today and had to pop out briefly at lunchtime to walk pearl round the cemetery. the weather is picking up a bit as summer is settling in
i got this from dodgy day care yesterday. these are pearls foot prints (i think)
then this evening i drove in to town to meet up with some colleagues to see Star Wars in 3D at a giant imax cinema
it was excellent (despite me taking a wrong turn on the way and adding 30 minutes to my drive)
meanwhile there’s been fun in taupo with walking to a cafe and then walking near a lake
they are back tomorrow
i drove to work in the morning as i had to drop Pearl off at dodgy daycare.
i left work a bit before 4pm so i could find somewhere to park near the stadium and then met up with the other photographers to go backstage for the AC/DC concert! We had our own little holding area which was quite spacious so we could sit around between bands. there were three bands so by the time AC/DC were on i knew my way around the giant photo pit and had experimented with a few lenses and positions.
at the start of the concert we were all told to strictly stay behind a certain point to avoid being hit by fireworks. fair enough
it all went very quickly then we were escorted off the venue and i was home by 10pm.
you can see my official set of pictures on Cheese On Toast: http://cheeseontoast.co.nz/2015/12/16/live-photos-of-acdc-at-western-springs-last-night/
here’s some more of Shihad :
And here’s loads of AC/DC:
it’s amazing what you find backstage …
and here’s my photo pass
the taupo people are having a good time i think
meanwhile i worked from home and walked pearl, sold a couple of photos to a friend as christmas presents, and got two offers of more photo work – one from a rival publication to Cheese On Toast (so i said no) and one from an experimental band who are doing some gigs in auckland next year and want an experimental photographer
