school, work for everyone except jane who is on school holidays
a stranger shouted at me on the bus which was exciting (he seemed to have missed the point that buses are a shared space and people have to squash up a bit during rush hour, which is most of the day at the moment)
i spent a while this afternoon looking for misdelivered cakes. i found them
jane did millions of excellent houseworks and fitnesses
esther had musical things after school
church this morning then i went to the beach to photo a baptism in the rain
the rest of the day was spent homework (girls) being bored/housework (jane)
jane and esther being bored ( i thought that word had been banned in our house, but i was wrong)
jane and i went out for a walk with pearl
esther had korean drumming in the morning then did homework all day
kezia did homework all day too then went out to church for a sleepover thing where she was the official photographer
in the evening i went out to photo a friend’s band just for fun
it was in a very small and very crowded bar. it was also really dark but a good opportunity to experiment with a few settings for next time i’m doing a band shoot in the dark (which seems to happen quite a lot!)

i somehow managed to miss wednesday. think it was just a usual school/work day
work / school for all today
amazingly the exhibition is still up on the waterfront. originally it was only going to be up for a month – it’s been about 4 so far!
the girls had their final rehearsal for their proms concert this evening
and jane had parents evening
here’s a praying mantis looking round the corner to see if anyone is using the upstairs toilet
nice to have a bit of sunlight again this morning now our hour has changed.
i met up with buzz at lunchtime. we sat and chatted in aotea square which was good for people watching
jane had a day at long bay with her class who were doing some team building day.
the girls had school. esther had a classic double instrument morning (violin + trombone + school bags on the bus) and kezia had her viola so they were quite loaded at the bus station
esther had big band and korean singing after school
so this morning we were all up early to get to Milford for just after seven to join the shore to shore walk/fun run. luckily the hour changed so it wasn’t quite as early as it could have been.
esther brought a friend along.

i did the walk four years ago with kezia. the event is more designed for primary schools but anyone can register and come along
it used to be called a 5km event until they measured it and realised it was 5.9km!

dogs were allowed but seemed to be mostly carried. we didn’t bring pearl
the rest of the day has been spent homeworking, school prepping/marking, sleeping
as you can see the weather is still really nice. was really hot first thing this morning while we waited for the 9am kick off

day of admin and chores for jane and me, although jane managed to fit in a coffee with debbie
esther had a party in the afternoon
kezia had an all day choir rehearsal and a concert in the evening
i went out and photoed the band called Low. i spotted one of them standing by a wall with a red light above it, so asked the other two band members if they would do the same and the picture at the top of the page is what i came up with.
this is a bit of cheating update as i edited these photos in the early hours of Sunday and did the triptych on Sunday
one other funny thing – when i got to the venue for the concert last night i saw a few of my pictures appear on the lighting guy’s laptop screensaver! Turned out he was particularly pleased with the lighting he did for one of the bands and my pictures showed it off nicely
