the outside paving man came at 9.30am this morning to talk about the final bits they need to sort out.  meeting went ok i think, but we’ll see what it looks like when he’s finished.

church this morning (but not for jane who is still in marketing misery)

the girls had a choir performance this afternoon as their choir master was being assessed

i went for a walk down a beach which was windy and choppy (but as it was 22 degrees, there was one person sunbathing in his budgie smugglers)

another band asked if they could *pay me* to photo them which is good but unfortunately facebook didn’t tell me they’d messaged me so they’ve also asked some other photographers so we’ll see if they pick me or not!  nice they asked me first anyway

not much else to report i’m afraid.  and the sun did pop out between clouds at one point

the concert i was photoing last night finished after 1am so i had a late night, then an early-ish start today as we were expecting the man to come and replace our boiler.  but he never arrived so that was annoying.  Music was really fun though and the crowd was friendly so it was all good.  and the fact the band are paying me was a real bonus (but also meant i had to stay to the end to watch a finale which never actually happened!)

kezia went out to a fireworks party this evening

jane did shopping, gardening, cooking and masses of report writing

esther did lots of revision

kezia and esther went to school for a choir rehearsal

i did various driving people about and editing hundreds of photos

hard tech workshop for kezia

facemasks and library for esther (who also found out she’s section leader for the Altos 1 in her choir next year)

suddenly there are lots of things i need to do at work with looming deadlines

i went to a meeting up a tall building

esther got announced as the arts prefect at school today!  that’s exciting.

jane had school sports day which was to be endured rather than enjoyed

i worked from home because the boiler man came back and concluded the boiler has to be replaced with a new new one (rather than the broken new one).  they’ll do that on saturday so at least i don’t need to take more time away from the office

someone knocked on the door as they are scoping the area to make an advert for orange juice.  the man was very enthusiastic.

pearl and i went for a walk this evening as jane did more marking

school and work for all

esther had her last official day at school for the year so is off now until February !  She has to go in to tomorrow for various assemblies and of course has weeks of exams. but still!

kezia had a chemistry lesson from jane’s sister this evening

jane is still doing loads of markings

and although it’s nice and sunny it was just 4 degrees this morning making for a chilly start to the day.  shame we still have no heating

school, work etc.  kezia had her last choir rehearsal of the year (i think)

loads and loads of trick or treaters came by this evening.  jane had to hide though as she recognised some from school as she drove in to the driveway!

crazy weather today.  bits of auckland had hail stones the size of coins which piled up like snow.   we saw lightning and heard thunder but avoided the worst

i went on a field recording workshop which i hoped would tell me how to record bits of sound out and about.  the course tutor was completely out of his depth (he has a doctorate in sound, but no idea how to teach!) so everyone just did their own thing which was fun in its own way.  for $10 you can’t complain!  i went with Buzz and my music friend Neil was there too so it was funny having two london accented english mates there.

the flooring lad came back at 8.30am this morning and managed to wipe off the mess he’d made on the deck (mostly)

jane and the girls went in to auckland to collect their bridge walk numbers for tomorrow

and kezia went out this afternoon to set up something to do with a bonfire and is coming back way too late thanks for the leaders being a bit rubbish

i worked from home as the owner of the company came out to fix the broken bit on the new boiler.  he replaced that bit but it still didn’t work so we’re not sure what happens next.

also a man came to clean our outside floors and ended up damaging our new decking and has done a generally rubbish job.  so his boss is coming by tomorrow morning to see what can be done.

and i put some towels in the tumble drier for 6 hours and they are still very wet (but hot)

jane and i are out tonight at a concert so hopefully that will be ok!

and i saw our postman go by in a little car.

esther found out she’s going to be a prefect next year and will find out what her specialised prefecting area is next wednesday.
