work for me. and a trip out to get kezia a new viola bow
jane had a good day at school with her class doing a little speech about how brilliant she is
kezia had school
esther did revision i suspect
i worked from home today as i was photo editing until after 1am. the boiler man came back again this afternoon to put some cleaning stuff round the pipes to placate us for our inconveniences. i pointed out they were meant to put that in as part of the original job. hey ho.
our girls both found out they have got in to the school’s prestigious chamber orchestra as well as the symphony orchestra again. go them!
work, school, school preparation, exam preparing, choir practice etc
then in the evening i went out to photo a concert with just a few minutes at home to grab some food and head back in to town.
the band were another old band which has been going for 30 years and are still rocking. this was my first time shooting a band from the back of the room as they don’t like photographers! all the photographers had to line up along a ledge behind the sound guy and take our photos – so we’ve all ended up with similar pictures!
here they are:
church this morning then lots of photo editing, domestic doings, revision, supermarket shopping. jane has gone out to the cinema with debbie this evening.
here are some of my photos from last night
and if you are interested in the quakes that hit new zealand on monday this is a good summary of what happened: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11751775
jane and i went to an outdoor art exhibition in the wind and rain this morning then had lunch. on the way back we watched the inspection of the military boats to mark the 75th anniversary of the NZ navy. The US navy boat wasn’t there as it was down south helping with the earthquake recovery, but there was a little greenpeace boat causing some minor bother
esther spent the day at the university library
kezia had the day at home
jane met up with some church ladies this afternoon
(you can see the sailors in the rigging on the photo above if you look carefully)
this evening Jane and I are out to see a concert
i had a good trip down to wellington today. weather was even sunny this morning. turned pretty wet and windy by the time i left though. i’ll post photos tomorrow as i’m a bit tired as i was up at 4am. (now added
esther had an english external exam
jane went to school and then came home
kezia stayed at home revising
this is the scene in our wellington office. clearly not all is well!
this was the view out of the office where i had my afternoon workshop. the street is closed as the earthquake had damaged the building and bit were in danger of falling off in to the street.
my morning meeting was in parliament which has got bit earthquake absorbers so we didn’t feel any aftershocks this morning. i may have felt a few during the day but i was a bit dizzy and hungry from lack of food/getting up early so it may have not been anything
the journey back was a bit bumpier as the wind had picked up. i abandoned my 6.30-8.30pm meeting as that would have meant getting back home nearer 10.30pm which i decided was too late when i have meetings at 9am tomorrow in auckland
here are my colleagues nick and anton who have been coping with the earthquakes admirably
work, exams
jane’s book club
and there are lots of military boats in town at the moment to mark 75 years of of the NZ navy. Although some of them have popped down to the south island to help with the earthquake evacuations
i’m off to wellington tomorrow where a big storm is due to come through so i’m expecting a bumpy day (flights and aftershocks)
kezia made the table in the picture below
a photo i took is one of the main images on the front page of the World Masters Games homepage!
