i went to a sad funeral in the morning and worked from home the rest of the day
everyone else had school
i photoed a band in the evening who were amazing.
(to be updated with photos later)
esther got some more badges at school so has even more bling thanks to excellent academic performance!
everyone had busy days. i picked up esther’s laptop which finally made it to the shop on the way back from work and picked up kezia after her choir practice
they were selling insect asses at the electronics shop!
i also saw a car on fire on the motorway which was exciting (below)
this evening i walked pearl. the field over the back of the cemetery where we used to walk her is all churned up now in preparation for cemetery extension building
there were two boats called Pacific Pearl in Auckland today. i’ve put a few more picture on my ‘other’ blog here: https://funkypancake.com/blog/2017/02/the-two-pacific-pearls/
otherwise, school and work for all. Really hot out 29 degrees or something and not expected to drop much below 21 over night! and humid. but i love all this hotness
girls had symphony practice after school and esther’s new laptop hasn’t arrived yet so there was some pointless additional driving required
public holiday today for Waitangi day.
esther and i went and test drove a Holden Spark car this morning so we could win one to use for two months. it was useful to see if we could get two cars in the garage (we can)
kezia had her birthday party for friends this afternoon and they made full use of the new facilities
while kezia was partying with her chums esther went to a friend’s house and i watched the Ovation Of The Seas depart Auckland
it’s the biggest cruise ship which comes through NZ and makes quite a splash. it’s too big to park up in the quays so has to stay out in the harbour
i tried to find a few different places around the coast to see it including under the harbour bridge
jane spent the day doing school preparations
kezia’s birthday today and a long weekend so we went for breakfast down by the silo park
jane and i spent the afternoon at Long Bay while the girls played in the pool at home
then we all went to Browns Bay to meet up with our chums and watch some sky divers landing
we had to leave early to get to the cinema as we were seeing Hidden Figures in Gold Class. great film and posh viewing!
pity i didn’t have my proper camera with me!
jane and esther took pearl for a walk at long bay
then esther and i went out to register Esther for her driving licence and book her theory test (the first part of the process in learning to drive)
then we went to a computer shop to buy esther a laptop which has now become essential for her at school this year.
after all that money spending, this afternoon jane, esther and i went to Waiheke to walk the biannual sculpture trail. we didn’t think it was quite as good as last time, or the time before. but the walk was nice and the wind was welcome on a hot and humid february afternoon.
kezia spent the day with a friend
i worked from home today so i could catch up on a bit of missing sleep. the girls had school. kezia had her orchestra practice. we’re back in to normal life now it seems
nice sunny morning.
esther and jane had school. esther was there in her official capacity as a prefect and had to organise and get to know the new Year 9s
kezia went in to town to see an old friend
i had lunch in aotea square – hoping to find a deckchair in the shade for a quick snooze but they’d taken them away!
i did see one of the musicians from the music festival though
and Kezia came to my office and we travelled back home together
esther had her choir rehearsal after school and in the evening we all did admin/sorting/preparation/resurrecting old computers
