i’ve got a stinking cold so worked from home today. kezia took the picture above and below. i got lots of work done so that was good.
the girls mostly played with pearl and did some sorting out of her things. this evening kezia had her swimming lesson
jane also went for some physio on her leg which was good so the half marathon is still on!
no life group tonight as it’s the school holidays. which is just as well as there’s wee on the floor and i’m going to bed early. good night.
hello. i was at church for 7am this morning (which felt like 6am due to the hour change) for church sound stuff. i finally got home at 1pm having lifted the stupid heavy sound systems once again in to the car, then back out in to our garage.
then i spent an hour doing the church podcast and finally an afternoon snooze
jane did the communion devo at church then came back to look after little pearl
it was a lovely sunny warm day so there were various garden type activities to do (jane mowed the lawn), i mended a microphone, esther cleaned up wee and kezia picked up poo. mostly outside.
kezia made some lemonade which tasted a bit weird.
Pearl, the female black labrador joined our family today. i suspect life is going to be a bit different for a while!
jane went off for a run first thing this morning (and her legs didn’t fall off so that was good). then we drove for an hour across to the other side of Auckland to pick up Pearl.
we spent a little time chatting with the breeders then drove back home to introduce her to her new facilities
so far she’s been really good, doing the necessary things outside rather than inside which is great. she sleeps in a long flat way, like a seal wherever she fancies lying down which is rather entertaining.
she seems to have 10 minute bursts of excitement then sleeps for ages
this afternoon i spent a few hours at church setting up the new trial speaker systems. i’ve a hurty back but other than that it was we had a really good afternoon and the new speakers sounded good. we’ll have to see how they go tomorrow morning of course.
our clocks change tonight so for a short while we’ll be 12 hours different from the UK. just so you know.
i worked from home today as someone came along from work to ask some questions about our fibre to the home broadband and speed and stuff. then this afternoon a chap came and dropped off lots of speakers and things for us to trial at church on sunday.
i asked him to set it up for me, and lucky i did as it didn’t go together very well and involved a mallet at one point!
this evening kezia had swimming. whilst kezia was swimming warren and i went to a hotel lobby for coffees and chips
jane had a prayer meeting and then some teaching. esther had school, swimming then a video night with her church group
it’s now school holidays for a fortnight. yay!
busy weekend ahead …
i had one of those days at work which was so busy i wasn’t entirely sure where i was most of the day. i knew it would be like that so was in at 7am to at least make sure i had the right papers for the right meeting and the day got better as it went on.
jane went to esther’s parent teacher meeting which was good, and did some teaching.
kezia had swimming this evening. Thursday evening is kezia’s 90 minute lesson so esther and jane did some grocery shopping and had a mooch round the shopping maul in takapuna
there was a national earthquake drill this morning at 9.26am where everyone had to drop, cover, hold. the girls did it at their schools, i did it at work (was a bit ad hoc, rather than a proper alarm). but jane didn’t do it at her school.
this manual appeared by our photocopier at work. and there’s a boat show on
this evening esther has been making donuts with a friend ready for selling tomorrow
the link to my photos from last week was sent round to the team so i got a few nice comments about that which was good.
and this evening jane’s been out doing her cycling class thing.
i had coffee this morning with my chum Phil, then lunch with buzz (shown above)
then this evening we went to kezia’s school to see a dancing celebration of the olympics
jane did some kristin work again and her church work. and i did some organising of the church sound system for this weekend which proved more complicated than expected.
busy days for all today. jane did 2 lessons at Kristin and kezia had swimming after school.
esther had her violin lesson so i picked her up from that then we went to Hell’s pizza (sorry!) for, erm, pizza. Esther and i played on the pinball machines and esther was really good.
then it was back home to eat the pizza (and hide the box in the bin so our church group wouldn’t disown us).
SG brought along a moon cake to our life group. it’s a Chinese celebratory cake. He’s not chinese, but knows his mooncakes. Wikipedia tells us “The festival is for lunar worship and moon watching, when mooncakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy.”

then a trip to mitre 10 looking for a replacement light switch and a gate bolt
this afternoon we went to Takapuna with debbie and warren and courtney and laura to eat ice creams
then we had a quick walk round the corner in the chilly wind
and then it was back home for tea, final photo sorting and some telly watching

as i mentioned yesterday we’re still waiting on word on when we can collect our puppy. turns out the vet checkup was only part of the delay as they are also still thinking about which one to keep for themselves.
