work and school for most

esther has gone off to a 5 hour training session for her new job this evening learning to ‘ush’ i presume.   jane went to the gym

kezia had a long choir practice but they finished half an hour early as it was so hot.  it is stupid hot.  99% humidity and hasn’t dropped below 20 degrees for a few days!  everywhere feels sticky and wet inside and out.  except at my desk at work where it’s so cold i have to wear a jacket.

i had lunch with buzz which was nice as i’ve not caught up with him for ages

church, lunch with the Irvines, various chores/snoozing.

absolutely tonnes of rain

esther came in to my office in the morning to get a lawyer to sign her application to get free university fees, so that was nice to her to meet my colleagues.

in the afternoon esther played squash i think.  or that might have been thursday

in the evening jane and i went to see Connan Mockasin.  It was in an old theatre that esther and i went to a few years ago to watch a might wurlitzer rise from the floor (that’s now been removed).    we got there early enough so we could get some comfy seats upstairs as we’re old and like a good sit down

i had a street photography course this morning in the pouring rain.  there were three people on the course which was a nice size and we had fun.  the rain meant we couldn’t go the usual route so instead we hopped between the shop fronts along Queen Street and photoed people that way instead.

this afternoon esther’s friend Zoe came and the two of them have gone to a fancy dress party as a cop and a criminal

esther went out with some chums for the day

this boat was too big to park up so had to stop at sea and the passengers were tenderised to the shore

Weird konday feeling for a Wednesday after a day off

Kezias somehoe managed to get a ring stuck on her finger which swelled up and needed to be cut off by the groudnsman with his pliers!

Esther met up with friends in q cafe and went in to town in the afternoon

I typed this on my tablet qnd autocracy isnt very good. Sorry about the typnos

today is waitangi day so a public holiday

kezia had her birthday party which was very loud and went from 1pm to 8pm. jane and i hid in the office (except when it came to pizza time as we managed to sneak some and eat it in the garage round the front of the house where we couldn’t hear them).

before the party jane walked pearl and then she went with esther to buy some smart clothes which would be appropriate for an interview situation

esther made kezia cake this morning then went out with her old concert band chums to avoid the party chaos

kezia turned 16 today so that’s old.

she went to the local cafe to get her free birthday coffee but they had her birthday down as the 2nd so she had to pay for it!

jane and i had work

esther went in to her old school to see the music teacher as she’s got a job for one hour a week looking after the brass and woodwind sectional rehearsals of the beginners orchestra. it’ll be an hour before school once a week starting in a fortnight’s time so fits in nicely with study etc

the girls got their exam scripts back today which was interesting.  i definitely couldn’t have answered much (any?) of their papers

this evening we went out to a restaurant chosen by Kezia for its ribs.  She had a massive pile.

the restaurant is hilarious as the waitresses are always really nervous or confused

a high light today was when esther and jane ordered lamb.  a while later our waitress arrived and said “we’re really sorry we’re run out of lamb and there’s only one left”

She stood there as jane and esther discussed which one of them would have it and which would have a different meal and after a while said “actually, neither of you can have it as we gave the one that was left to someone else”.    classic stuff

on the way home we bought some ben and jerry’s ice cream from a petrol station to eat at home.

you’ll wish the days of minimal blogging would return in a minute.

some of the pine trees have been chopped down across the creek so we can now see golfers which is a shame

we had church this morning.  kezia was helping with youth and the rest of us learnt some snake etiquette which luckily is not needed in New Zealand

this evening jane went out for her first solo drive with esther (i’ve been doing all that) and it was ok. so that’s ok!
