i took mum to the airport this morning.  we arrived a bit early so had a coffee before checking in.  all very civilised.

then some fire alarm went off so they stopped people going through security/customs, but after a while it stopped and all was well.  there was then a massive queue to get through to departures once it had opened, but mum avoided it by going through a special lift in the Air New Zealand business lounge (she was allowed to use it)

mum texted from her plane to say they were all loaded and ready for take off.

everyone had school, esther had violin then tennis.  kezia had swimming.  pearl had doggy day care where she looked after a new dog and played with a couple of other friends all day apparently.

i have to leave the house at 4.30am tomorrow to get a plane to wellington so might have an early night!

everyone was back at school / work today while my mum had a busy day of packing and ironing and visiting our neighbour

somehow in the day i amanged to take my car up to the garage to get the brakes replaced

kezia’s day was spent at Auckland museum then she had swimming this evening

and mum said goodbye to the girls and Pearl as they’ll all probably have gone to school/day care by the time she gets up in the morning

pearl looked sad to lose her ball throwing friend.  Pearl had really worked well on improving mum’s ball throwing technique and she will miss her new found skills.

then mum and i went in to town for a walk along the waterfront including a look at a glass art exhibition in Silo 6

we met up with jane and the girls in town once they’d finished their homeworks

and we went to see Mamma Mia!

then this evening it was obligatory group photos and photo admin

i wanted to get a photo of my brother and me with mum, but of course Ed is in the UK.  so we used Skip as a stand in as he looks a bit like my brother!

kezia had her 5.30am swimming.  jane dropped her off, went for a long walk with pearl and did the supermarket shopping by the time everyone else was awake

the rest of the morning was spent doing various domestics including starting to create mum’s photobook

mum popped next door to have a coffee with one of our next door neighbours who is from the britain

this afternoon we went for afternoon tea at the Waitakere Estate as an early mother’s day celebration for my  mum

then we drove down to Piha for a quick look round

then this evening mum took us on a slide show of the world via her holiday snaps (now sorted for the photo book) which was really interesting.  then watched a DVD of her cruise ship vocal group performance which was also very good

i had the morning off work to go shopping wiv me mum.  successful trip.

this afternoon was free time for my mum and working for me

this evening mum and jane went out with chums for coffee while esther and I watched  Dr Who and Kezia had her swimming lesson

here’s esther searching for a cricket which was hiding somewhere near this mannequin in the swimming pool reception area.  the cricket was spotted but not retrieved so we left it to continue its indoor chirping

mum and i went to tiri tiri matangi today.  here are a load of pictures of birds

the girls had school

esther had an orchestra rehearsal

then this evening we all went to a concert which featured two of esther’s bands where she plays her trombone – the big band and the concert band

we got front row seats and a couple of esther’s church youth leaders came along with one of esther’s friends.  which was very nice.

esther is not visible in the picture above, so don’t spend any time searching for her!

i had a busy day working from home and went in to a local office for a meeting this afternoon.

the girls had school, kez had violin and esther had youth group.

mum had a nice day at home in the sun and did a massive pile of ironing.  this evening mum and me took pearl for a walk round the cemetery.

unfortunately none of those photos passed the quality threshold so are not available to view.

i had another day off work today (although ended up doing quite a few hours of work during the day) so mum and me had a day out

day started in puhoi for cheese and coffee at the pub

then matakana and lunch at a pottery

then a look at posh holiday houses in omaha followed by a walk on the beach

and finally a walk round goat island (no snorkelling for us today)

the girls had school

then this evening there was the usual merry go round of violin, tennis and swimming

and kezia won some film tickets by texting a radio station
