works/school for all. esther had a classics exam
this evening jane, kezia and i went to a german friend of jane’s house where we stood outside and shivered by a brazier with various german (and Filipino) speaking people
the girls had school. jane had a reception drinks for the new headmaster
kezia got in to one of the school choirs. there are going to be three choirs and kezia is in the second one, which is good for her!
i went to wellington for the day today for a meeting. all went well
esther had her exam today which she thinks went well. she’s got classics tomorrow
kezia had swimming esther had tennis
one of my marathon pictures appeared on the front page of our company intranet today. that was exciting.
otherwise, just a usual busy day
i walked to the bank at lunchtime and queued up to pay in a cheque. retro
esther has her first exam tomorrow. chemistry i think. and i’m off to Wellington for the day
we got back from our concert just before midnight and jane was up at 4.30 this morning to get the bus to the marathon start.
the girls and i left the house at 5.45 to get to our watching point.
jane walked the marathon this year with our English friend Anna from church.
there weren’t many people dressed up, but enough to make it all not too serious! (this is new zealand though where sport is a serious business!)
this afternoon kezia had a swimming competition which meant being at the pool for many hours. so i did that while jane did lots of school prep and marking
kezia is in pink
here’s elbow from last night
kezia had swimming first thing.
i spent a while doing pool stuff today (it’s currently slightly green)
then we all went out for high tea in a posh place in devonport where they provide hats so people can look even posher than they already are
this evening jane and i are going to see the band Elbow in Auckland. that’s exciting.
work/school for all
kezia had Halloween fun with her swimming squad
i had a really busy day of millions of meetings so didn’t manage to pick up jane’s marathon race stuff until after work
then i popped over to the silos to look at an art installation and listen to an experimental music band who i thought were really good
the picture below shows what they sounded like.
wild weather last night and it felt quite cold this morning
there’s an anti-whaling boat in the harbour at the moment which is interesting
kezia had swimming after school then both girls went to a church youth evening in takapuna while i went out photoing with my friend Mike
and excellent news – esther got in to the choir! apparently all her friends were surprised as they’d never heard her sing. so she’s gone from never being in a choir to being in New Zealand’s top choir in one move. nicely! Rehearsals will start soon as they already have a date in the Vector Arena doing some Doctor Who proms thing next year
