We had previously promised ourselves that we’d have a day in London for just the four of us.   So today we went to madam taussauds,  St Paul’s cathedral and a walking tour (led by me) from Westminster to Oxford circus via trafalgar square,  Leicester Square, picadilly circus and along regent Street.

We also had a look at the sherlock homes museum but a 90 minute queue in the rain out us off that idea,  so we went to St paul’s instead.

You aren’t allowed to take pictures in St paul’s so most of the picture are from the roof looking to London.

The day started with thank you card writing and general admin while jane went off to see her friends Mary-Ann and Carol

We went round to our friend Russell and Angela’s house for lunch with our friends Richard and Julia who were passing through on the  way back to Hull

After that we had a walk round Dinton Pastures with Richard and Julia and their dog Dora

This evening the girls are going to the beginning of jane’s mums bell ringing practice so have been practising at home with a vacuum cleaner on a chair

We also managed to have a quick look round waitress and saw posh toilet paper

After a rather noisey night in the hotel,  thanks to ravers returning to their rooms,  I got up early this morning and walked down to the train station to catch the train back to reading

My train journey was a bit rubbish and i’ll spare you the details other than to say I was meant to be on one train all the way but ended up having to change train four times and travelled on three different trains (including the same one twice from two different stations as it caught us back up)

This afternoon we went to Tony and Tanya’s house for hitting walking and charades

This evening we’re back at jane’s parents house for the rest of our time in the uk
And in other news my brother had a baby boy this morning which is very good exciting!

Went in search of industrial Sheffield today and also walked for two hours down the canal to meadowhall shopping centre.   I got the super tram back

I explored some old university building and caught up with my old chum Elton.  He was volunteering at a needy persons Christmas project.  While there we were talking with someone who then realised (unpromoted)  that they remembered me serving them at a needy person breakfast project twenty years ago!

Also along the way I visited exhibitions,  the outside of the restaurant I used to work at,  and the inside  of the cafe in the park where I worked for three years while a student

Then this evening I went to David and Bobby’s house.  They were a church connection from back in the day and it was great to catch up with them. 

Although it took longer than expected to get there as my bus broke down.

Finally made it Sheffield thanks to cousin Annabel.  Saw my old flat and lots of snow.

We drive down to Crawley this morning to see Pam who was down at her sister and brother-in-law’s house.    They took us out for lunch at a Harvester

On the way back to jane’s parents house we popped in to see brother edd and I met my nephew Finlay for the first time.

Then this evening I met up with my old friend Paul.

Another busy /excellent day.

The rest of the day was spent with the foxes and the courtneys.
