happy easter
jane went to takapuna with church chums to watch the sun rise. it was raining by the time we got back from church
church this morning then easter egg hunting this afternoon
kezia and jane went to pick up pearl late in the afternoon so esther and anni and i went to muriwai to watch the sun set

after cleaning and checking out of our holiday accommodation we went over to the luge for opening time. The girls had 5 increasingly competitive descents while i sat and got sun burnt (oops).
after lunch under a bungee swing, we then went over to the zorbs where anni did a dry zorb, and kezia did a wet zorb. my mum paid for them to do that as an easter treat! (esther is saving her treat for something else)
anni went straight down the track on the left in the picture above, somersaulting as she went
kezia went down the zig zag grass track to the right (not the road!), swishing around like a washing machine as she went round the corners!

we then went in to rotorua for an hour of free time/shopping. i did a really speedy power walk round bits of the lake and saw some fireman putting out a sulphur fire!
then we drove the three hours back, which was in day light and the roads weren’t busy. there’s a lunar eclipse tonight at 1am. i don’t think we’ll stay up.

This morning we went to wai-o-tapu
Then this afternoon and evening we went to rainbow springs and saw various kiwi birds running about and a one day old kiwi chick in an incubator.
In between our two trips to rainbow springs we had a very unsatisfactory trip to Nandos for dinner. We won’t be going there again!
Everyone is exhausted and in bed by nine!
end of term today which meant the last day for anni to see her teachers and friends
kezia had an orchestra rehearsal after school which was a bit for the last day of term i thought!
i worked from home as i needed to take some more antenae photos and edit the ones i’d already taken
i took jane’s car to the garage for new tyres and ended up buying 9 new shirts in an outlet store
we’re not about to battle the public holiday traffic and drive down to rotorua for two nights. i hope to be able to do an update tomorrow evening, but don’t panic if we don’t as we’ll catch up on saturday night.
anni and esther were on the early bus today. anni had a morning kayaking on lake pupuke and had amazing weather for it. she had a great time and finished just in time to got back to school for the end of her morning classes so ended up eating crepes! she went in to auckland after school with her friend and the friend’s parents who are visiting from germany.
esther had music before school and big band after. her choir practice was cancelled as lots of people were off sick. esther has a stinking cold and probably should have been off sick herself, but she had a science test she needed to attend
jane had school and is still really busy. she took the car to the garage for some new tyres which they’ve ordered in and we’ll get those tomorrow. last day tomorrow for everyone. hoorah.
and it’s just dawned on me she must have taken pearl too as i don’t think i’ve seen her this evening
i agreed to pay the addition $400 (on top of the already paid $400) to get our dishwasher repaired. we should get that back next week
i had a really busy day at work then spent another hour and half after work driving around taking more pictures of mobile phone masts
if you are wondering why i took a picture of a church it’s because there’s a mobile phone mast hidden in its plastic spire!
i’ve got a few more shots to take tomorrow so am working from home so i can pop out when the roads are less busy.
jane was being a teacher in her parent teacher evening, so i was the actual parent in kezia’s parents teacher evening.
kezia is doing well so that’s great. she’s got some nice teachers and she showed me round the school
anni went to the mall after school to do various admin things
esther had a concert band rehearsal which finished at the same time as kezia’s parents evening and so we all travelled back together
everyone has a really tired end of term feeling at the moment with jane and esther still having loads to do before the end of term on Thursday. poor things!

esther’s onesie turned up
anni met up with a couple of friends after school. it’s her last week of school so she’s starting to say her goodbyes
i went in to town to take some pictures of mobile phone masts for work
early start this morning for me as i was on sound, and also the official photographer for some dedications and baptisms which formed part of the service. made for a rather busy 5 hours.
The baptisms were great with two of esther’s age friends deciding on the day to get baptised.
i’ve spent the rest of the afternoon editing photos although i did pop out mid afternoon to collect esther who is back from her choir camp. it consisted of learning, eating and sleeping.
i was helped by kezia who took pictures from up above while i took photos from down below. we made a good team. she spotted someone sneaking a sausage off the barby!
and she got some great shots of the submersions from above too!
Anni did the bay to bay walk in the pouring rain this morning before it cleared up. she was soaked from the hair down apparently and cold for a bit, but it was good. she spent the rest of the day at Albany Mall with her friend.
