Friday 9th October
Early this morning the packer men arrived and started to pack all our stuff (which was in boxes) in to our container
Finally the container was full and set off for the sea. We will see it again in Auckland (we hope!)
our house is a really good place to be but (except for Esther’s windows view) i know we will find a good house in New Zealand
at the last minute we looked back at our house and said bye bye
and then we arrived at grannies house and i played with grannies toys that are on the picture
by Kezia Simpson.

see y’gain paul
i wish we’d thought of this private blog a bit earlier so i could have put up pictures of everyone we’d said our last goodbyes too. but hey ho.
anyway, here’s a chap i’m going to miss seeing in the real world. it’s paul, my old housemate at various times, and general great friend. i was proud to be best man at his wedding. We decided to take the short cut back from the pub last night climbing through undergrowth in the pitch dark with only small torches. excellent stuff.
here’s paul and me in the video which is already on youtube so doesn’t fall foul of my promise to unearth any embarrassing videos to out online. Paul is dressed as the ever popular ‘Rudolf Leider’ and appears from camera right

Thursday 8th October – Another day with the Pack-Men
Today’s exciting events logged by Jane, photos by Dave.
We decided it would save money if we sent dave by sea. He should arrive in about 6 weeks. Hopefully he’ll be cleared by immigration.
Here’s Pooch sitting on some thrones with us. They look quite good like this. We might not take the packing off when we arrive.
We are sleeping on mattri on the floor tonight – as seen in Kezia’s room. The dining room was much fuller than this by the end of the day.
This is the living room. Also in here there is a cordoned off area where our stuff not to be packed is waiting. Today I had to go to the hospital for an eye check up as I failed the puffer test at a recent routine eye check up. Luckily I passed today. In the rush to leave for the appointment we had to ask the packmen to lock up when they left. One of them has left his coat and his car keys are in the pocket!!!!! (He’ll have had to drive home in the van).

biologically challenged potato
we’re not allowed anything flammable in our packing, and the packing people found some highly flammable fondu fuel which was good of them (ooops).
and we’re not allowed anything food like. this was once a potato and has mutated into something all together more disgusting. luckily we spotted this one ourselves and chucked him out.

Wednesday 7th October – The Box People
Today has been the day of the box. The two packers from Sterling have done Stirling work and we now have an entire ground floor and about half of the upstairs boxed up.
The day started early with me chiselling a hole in a work bench (deliberately) so our future tenants (if we ever get any) can get their tumble drier plug to the socket without removing the plug. I took the short cut (literally) and just chopped the wire off our’s (based on the assumption i’m going to have to replace it with a New Zealand plug anyway).
So far it’s Kezia who has suffered most at the hands of the enthusiastic packers, having had her pyjamas packed which she only discovered whilst getting ready for bed. d’oh !
Our house looks mostly like this. The labels on the boxes sum up our life quite nicely.

a surprise catch up with h’aunty barb
With our house in crates it was great to have a quick escape to jane’s parents to see a visiting h’aunty barb.
Kezia took full advantage of the situation by kicking off a game of Racing Demons, which is THE family card game of choice.
For future reference I’ll get Jane to put in the current handicaps here:
