a day when lots of things went wrong.

i was meant to be spending the day creating a presentation for camera club, but instead spent 6 hours (literally) trying to mend jane’s new phone which died while updating its firmware (it needs to go to the menders which aren’t open until Monday morning), and also our home wifi (which i did manage to mend by buying a new router).  

just when  i sat down to do the presentation kezia broke her ipad charging cable which she needed desperately so we spent the rest of the afternoon in the mall.

kezia had swimming first thing, jane and esther went out for lunch.

so, that plus a few others things made this a not particularly great day.

oh, and the kauri tree at the bottom of our garden has been taken away by the council because it was dead and had a fungus

work and school for all

kezia had swimming.  she’s got her new swimming timetable which starts in November.  she’ll be swimming 6 times a week, including 5.30am – 7.30am on a tuesday morning.

i had a wander round auckland at lunchtime trying a new style of street photography

esther’s gone to a dessert and board games evening with the church youth group this evening

i had a meeting on the other side of the CBD today so i walked and saw some interesting things

everyone else had school

kezia was feeling a bit ill this evening so skipped swimming and went to be

esther and i went shopping for a new phone for jane

we all had school/work.  kezia had violin, esther had some band practice

picture below got highly commended, one above (from ages ago in the london) got honours

kezia entered two images in to the club this evening too, but i don’t have copies.  they both got Highly Commended. i’ll post them another time.

jane had a filling and pearl has kennel cough

esther had violin.  kezia had a long wait after school

i had work and spent this evening writing a presentation to give at photo club next week

kezia had another teacher training day today so spent most of the day tidying her room which looked great by the end of it

here’s pearl having a yawn in the garden

she was watching me go down a slope to try to find her ball.  i didn’t.

i worked from home today to keep an eye on kezia

jane had a busy day at school as she got some extra (paid) cover lessons which is handy as she’s got an expensive dentist appointment coming up and pearl might need a vet visit

esther had school

this evening kezia had swimming so i went out photoing with Mike

i’ve decided i’m compiling a set of auckland bridge in an impressionistic style which i might use for my next accreditation.  we’ll have to see.

here’s a couple of more traditional ones

Church,  housework,  school work,  hobbies.

we let kezia skip swimming this morning as we had a full day of exercise planned walking up rangitoto

The boat ride was a bit chilly as we sat on the shady side, but once we arrived and started walking we soon warmed up

kezia and i shared my camera and took a photo of each other’s face as we handed the camera over so we knew which photos were whose

as a result there are a few photos of me.  look at the state of my hair

we had lunch at the top, looking away from teh city

it’s funny seeing landmarks we know all slightly out of sync with each other

it was an hour’s direct climb to get up to the top.  and we came back down round the side which is a good 3 hour walk

it’s interesting to walk among the lose scoria fields.  most have been populated by a pohutakawa forest, but some areas are just rocks

not many clouds

good idea to have a fire ban on a volcano.  potentially this one could go off again, so makes sense to warn the ground not to go off again

we were pretty exhausted by the time we got back to the wharf and there was a little bit of sleeping on the boat

when we got back to auckland we had a quick look at the food fair, but it was a bit busy so we came home instead

this evening kezia has been editing her photos from the zoo yesterday

kezia and i spent the day taking photos at the zoo.  she had a teacher training day and so i took a day of leave.  we had great fun waiting for interesting things to happen with the animals

jane had a busy day at school, then a busy evening with kezia’s swimming and shopping

these are my photos.  kezia is looking forward to editing her photos and entering a couple of nice ones in to the photo club!

kezia had swimming.  esther had taikwondoo before school and orchestra after

and esther got to buy a tie at school which people are only allowed to buy if they’ve represented the school nationally or internationally, so that’s very cool.  now she has to learn how to tie it properly
