8 degrees and massive rain storms when i left this morning, but fine a few minutes later when i got in to auckland, before going rainy again.   quite a come down from twenty degrees at the weekend.  heating is now switched on

the girls were at home today i think.  jane tidied her cupboard and moved my porridge out the way, but i’ll get used to it so don’t worry about that.

i like to go on a bit of hike on a friday morning on the way to work as i’m wearing my own shoes, so i walk up the hill to k-rd and back down to the office.  you know. the scenic way.

busy day again for me, although i did pop out at lunch to meet up with my old colleague Simon and an unexpected pigeon

    150410_IMG_3176

there was some very slow dance troupe in the atrium at work as i walked by.

    150410_IMG_3160

the girls went to the mega centre and kezia had a friend over for the afternoon

    150410_IMG_3191

the bush above is pampas grass and an obnoxious pest (in New Zealand) according to our neighbour who came by a took the seeds off it this evening.  he’ll come back later to take the rest of it away i think.  he knows about plants and things so that’s handy

    150407_IMG_3082

i had a very busy day at work, but at least the buses were emptier with the schools being away.

two boats of note in the harbour this morning.  the hideously shaped celebrity cruise ship (above) and the amazing private yacht which is just about to head off to France apparently.  it’s been in Auckland right over the summer being spruced up so it’ll be sad to see her go

    150407_IMG_3088

meanwhile esther had a good day with her friend wandering round the shops (but not buying anything) in auckland town

kezia did lots of homework and jane did lots of jobs at home

kezia also had a dentist appointment which went well

we took anni to the domestic airport this morning to send her off on her south island site seeing trip.  she made it to christchurch safely.  she’ll be back for a night at the end of next week then leaves us for good.

    150406_IMG_3030

the rest of us then carried on to the Hunua Ranges and tracked down the Hunua falls which were really busy

    150406_IMG_3031

we had a picnic, looked at the falls then did the first part of a longer walk which involved walking across precarious stones in a river and going up what felt like hundreds of stairs.

    150406_IMG_3033

then we came home and i slept for hours
