work, school
esther had tennis after school then had to rush back to the boys school for a big band (or might have been concert band) performance at the boys school’s open evening
today was quite reflecty
i worked from home today as i had a dentist appointment this afternoon. good job i did as our internet broke and a man came round to mend it before i had to go out so that was a very good result. the ONT had died in case you are interest, but we also had a pinch/kink in the fibre!
dentist went ok.
both girls had musical things so were back late, and we popped in to a posh supermarket on the way back where they have all sorts of interesting (and expensive) vegetables
we didn’t buy any hands (you have to break off a ‘finger’)
jams
church then we went to see Mr Holmes at a local boutique cinema as it was raining.
true to form a visit to a boutique cinema gave us another comedy experience. this time the cinema was completely cold old due to a special deal for their ‘silver club’ members. they could enjoy a cup of tea in a nice china cup before they went in. film was good, although kezia was very confused by the story!
everyone had school work / preparation today (except me)
jane went to the gym and walked pearl then spent the rest of the day preparing stuff for school
i phoned up our roofer who has now sent us the bill which was around $15K less than we expected (!) because he told me the roof tiles were ‘three thirty’ each which i assumed was $330 but was actually $3.30! and because we needed 43 of them that made a big difference to the final price!
then, after doing some remote sorting of my mum’s computers and a quick skype call, i drove out to matakana to pick up some new bed covers (or Manchester as it’s known here)
while i was in matakana i wander over to the food market
and on the way back home i stopped at Sandspit and sat in the face overlooking the inlet and then warkworth
this evening esther has been at a party while kezia has been organising and sorting her room
i had my last day at the conference in Wellington. the conference itself was 2 minutes from my hotel, but you had to allow at least 15 minutes for the pedestrian lights which were very slow, and there were lots of road junctions to cross. i had an hour to kill between the end of the conference and having to catch a taxi (Uber) to the airport so took a few photos.
i didn’t spot this sun halo in the sky until i checked out the back of my camera and there it was !
jane and the girls had school. esther went to a korean evening with her chums
it’s good to be home again!
