one man’s lonely dancing is how my friday evening started at the Others Way festival for my evening of photoing.   i took a couple of hours off work in the afternoon so i could have a proper snooze before i went out which did the trick and i stayed awake until 1am without any problem!

but the totally excellent thing was striking up a conversation with this photographer chap at the first venue.  i asked him who he was shooting for and as part of the conversation he said he’s forgotten his ear plugs, and i had a spare pare.  turns out he’s a veteran photographer of the NZ music scene and was able to give me loads of tips and inside info on the different venues, and we were covering lots of the same bands.  plus the main venue where i was assigned had a photographer pit so i didn’t even have to worry about getting squashed AND it had a seat in it Smile

Meanwhile the girls had school and a telly night

work for all and much rainyness outside

    150903_IMG_8552

    esther had tennis

    150903_IMG_8554

after work i walked up to the area in town where i’m taking photos of 6 (or possibly more) bands tomorrow night to collect my access all areas pass (!).

    150903_IMG_8556

a few of the venues happened to be opened so i was able to pop in and have a look round and work out where i might be able to get photos from.  i suspect they’ll all look completely different when they are packed full of tall music fans.  we shall see.

School and work for all.  Esther had big band and kezia had her church youth group.
Esther got chosen unanimously to do a speech competition by her English class but it clashes with a big band performance so she’s politely declined.  She doesn’t mind and it’s nice to be asked!

I’m writing this on the bus to work as I forgot to update last night  due to domestic busyness

everyone had school.  esther had things involving her violin and trombone

    150901_IMG_8457

and kezia sat in her usual spot playing on her ipad

very foggy all day today which made for a nice walk to work.  this little red kayak set off near where i was walking and soon went by the giant posh boat parked up by the silos

    150831_IMG_8417

i met up with buzz for a hot beverage at lunchtime.  jane had a busy day at school

    150831_IMG_8431

esther’s choir sang for the commonwealth at the auckland art gallery – or at least a load of commonwealth dignitaries.  they thought it so amazing the choir were forced to do an enchore which they weren’t expecting.

and kezia had a performance with one of the other choirs she’s in.  so they were both late home

jane has been having a nice time on waiheke from what we’ve heard from her

not much to report from me – kezia had a gunky eye so we went to the doctors but the wait was going to be 2 hours so we just went to the pharmacy for some drops instead.

i played with my flashes while the girls walked pearl who did a poo on albany highway (i think)

this evening kezia’s been at a youth group social which involved some kind of air guns and it sounded like the youth group leader had a particularly vicious gun that left various people (including kezia) bruised!

meanwhile i attempted to iron everything i could and even found a long lost rain coat at the bottom of the ironing basket.  i stuck to ‘safe’ stuff like my tshirts and work shirts and teatowels.  it’s all been ironed, but not necessarily crease free!

sorry there’s no pictures of the girls!

this was a cat not quite among the pigeon.  and below is a picture of no bananas. because we have a national shortage

i worked from home and the girls and i went to the supermarket this evening

    150828_IMG_8061-Edit

kezia is learning and dance in PE which esther learnt when she was in the same class.  they took advantage of the funky music on the supermarket radio and the empty aisles to do a quick demo.
