back in September there was much fanfare when the london celebrity walk of fame was opened (see story here).

Here's a picture i took back in October. I thought it was a bit of a death trap as those stars were really slippy in the rain and i nearly came a cropper. i never got round to posting this picture - sorry about that !

anyway, i took a short cut through there yesterday and all the stars are gone ! What's happened to them ?

read the latest on this here

i've just spoken to ITV and they don't know either.

i'll have to try the tourist board next ...

i wonder what would happen if we contacted one of the real life stars who had their name on one of those stars.....especially the more vain ones?
You've got me all curious now, I'd love to know - please keep asking!

well, if anyone knows any of the stars, please ask them !

i'll try phoning the tourist board next week.

have you got an appropriate answer?

you wouldn't believe the run about i've had trying to find out.

even the tourist office thought it was a permanent feature.

i found another photo of some of the plaques last night so when i do find out i'll post another picture.

How about the Highways Agency - aren't they the people who go around mending roads? They might have an idea.

could be, but this is private land next to a church.

i'll pop in to the church next time i'm passing through that way and ask them. but that might not be for a week or so.

well, mystery solved. i've now had official confirmation that it was only a temporary thing for 3 months.

that's fame for you !

thanks for the painstaking job you did for the FP-community! -Well, now i have another prove that it's not worth running for fame...

But in the report they said: "...More names will be added to the avenue every year.

As well as having their names set permanently in the walkway, celebrities were being presented with replica stars.

What should our thoughts be?

It does all seem a bit of a swizz to me. They certainly made us think it was permanent when they had the grand opening!

I wonder how much money was wasted to do all that...somebody was laughing at the time if they knew all along that it would soon disappear!

(sorry - can you tell I'm tired and grumpy!?!)
