wee man
this is for warren who is a regular reader of funkypancake and who i go for occasional health giving walks. it was his birthday yesterday and we saw this little man whilst out walking last week. so here it is.
i recognise this from a board game of some sort but can't remember what it is. drop me an email if you know !

these are some of jane's old wooden toys. kezia set the gang up for one last photo before we left the UK half a year ago. finally got round to posting it !
the new barbie head
remember barbie head from last year ? well, we discovered this chewed toy near our house last night. i'll keep an eye on him for you
old time chair-o-planes
you know, chair-o-planes. like they had in the olden days. before they even had planes. they used to fly chairs around the place. it was simply chairs flying through the sky. people were so glad when they invented airplanes. it made the whole flying thing a lot less windy.

these little chaps were hiding around the church yard yesterday morning. i suspect it was for one of the sunday clubs.
powerless ranger
remember the power ranger who was trying to cross the main road outside my office ? well this is all that's left.
even a power ranger can't survive crossing the A4
there's a madly busy road outside my office and it looks like this power ranger failed to make it to the other side. just shows to go.

esther spotted that one of rascle's toys was lacking any upper clothing. luckily her necklass saved our blushes
i love you tesco
i accidentally took kezia's emergency cuddling label thing with me to Poland. so i thought i'd show it a good time.
my favourite thing about this thing is how it says 'tesco' as large as the 'i love you' letters.
the swimming owl story
here is kezia's little owl floating down a river. let me explain how this happened.
we were walking by a river when we saw this tree had falled across it. spotting another path on the other side we decided to have a family adventure and see if we could climb over it. the water was quite deep and fast flowing, so we needed to be careful.
jane decided she and esther could make it over, but kezia and i would stay safe on our side. unfortunately jane had kezia's newly acquired owl in her pocket. this owl was a prize in a treasure hunt kezia had just completed, and kezia loved it.
as jane started to cross the river it dropped out of her pocket in to the water. for a while it lay still in a sheltered backwash
but then, before we could hook it out, it caught the current and off it went.
we all ran down the river looking for places to hook it out. the river was wide and too deep to wade in. the bank was very high so getting to water level was tricky too. here is jane trying to reach it with a stick
but before we knew it little owl was in the main current.
luckily esther spotted a big rock near the edge of the river and the owl headed straight for it. it was make or break time. i put my camera down, grabbed a stick and managed to coax it in our direction, and by some amazing skill managed to scoop it out of the river (without falling in myself)
owly survived the ordeal (and i got plenty of photos), but we never did cross the river.
let that be a lesson to all of you.

i often take low down shots and usually i get them in focus. this time i didn't. but it's still a nice effect as the background just behind it is in focus !

this is actually a large connect 4 game and isn't a clever perspective trick.
the horse disaster
this is a display in the museum at wellplace zoo. esther and her friend catherine noticed that most of the horses have falled over. click the picture for a nice big view.
kezia's baby factory
here are kezia's toy babies on shelves. there's something very sci-fi about this.

this play park has been closed and is gradually being reclaimed by nature. play parks which ban kids sad places
frog in a box
kezia has a fantastic frog in a box spring thing. capturing it in motion is a bit of challenge, so i was quite please with the picture above
rubber duck
it's such a small thing, but having a plastic duck in a hotel bathroom is a great idea
lost dog
a stray toy dog.
just after i'd bent down to take this photo some builders said "i wouldn't leave that there mate", to which i replied "neither would i" and walked off.
i think they were a bit confused

6,000th post (ish)
i'm not sure quite how the numbering will work out but this is around my 6,000th post on the blog and we've just passed the 4,000th comment mark too !
if the stats are to believed funkypancake got 32,000 unique visitors last month equating to 47K visits and 48GBytes of traffic.
walking wise i've also just gone over the 3,000 miles / 5,000 km mark.
how long have you been reading funkypancake ? long enough to remember lazy eye when i first published her ? why do you keep coming back ?
sumo swings
kids play grounds are marvellous. this one even has a swing for sumo wrestlers.
kezia said to jane "can i have a go on the pants swing". great minds think alike.
i obviously have the same outlook as a three year old.
lost po
poor old po. lost in brighton. still, he/she's being very sensible and sitting on a bench waiting for its owner to come back and rescue it.

kezia decided she wanted to take some portraits with my camera. so she set up her baby and angelina her 'balernina'.
the results are quite impressive (and work better bigger)
the lost doll
here is a doll in the streets of hull. it was just tucked out of view, but was a good find i'm sure you'll agree.

on the right track
this is jane's old toy train set. i had exactly the same train set when i was a lad so it's nostaligic for both of us, but it lives at jane's parents so we don't see it much.
we borrowed it for kezia's party last week so kids who didn't want to play the party games could amuse themselves.
it kept me amused, especially when i discovered that jane kept the track and trains in seperate boxes. i suspect they used to be all kept in the same box until the toy railways were privatised and the ownership of the rolling stock and track were seperated.
kid's kitsch
look at this amazing toy which kezia got for her birthday. how cool would it be to convert this in to a mobile phone cover ?
