the security guard in the background asked me what i was doing.  so i told him.  this was possibly my most dangerous dummy photo so far as i nearly got squashed by a number of shoppers who were driving their trolleys at speed towards the just opened portcullis

of all the photos i take, i find people stare at me most when taking pictures of dummies

080822_850_img_0636.jpg

but that's probably because they are so rare i spend longer than i usually do taking pictures to make sure the dummy is in focus

080822_850_img_0638.jpg

and to get a nice background (like this yellow t-shirt or the wall of legs on the top picture)

when i went to work this morning this dummy was on a pillar near the train station awaiting rediscovery.  12 hours later when i got back it was on the floor snout down.  i suspect it's is less likely to be retrieved in this orientation

whilst out on a photoshoot with jen and leo (oooh, look at me!) i was delighted to find this dummy

080223_850_img_7043.jpg

Leo had asked me earlier what kinds of things i usually photograph.  And there waiting for us was one of my favourite subjects !

nearly exactly one year on in the same place as live8 i spotted this dummy (and could you imagine my surprise when i saw a Farringdon Lan sign in the background - not really)

http://www.funkypancake.com/blog/stuff3/2006/06/DSC00461-thumb.jpg

i took a picture of this as i thought it was a view of the wireless future where every street or area has its own wifi computer network. Farringdon is fairly high-techy area so that seemed appropriate.

but imagine my surprise when i looked at the photo more closely. click on the picture for a big view and look at the right side of the name plate ! This sign was quite high up the wall and i didn't spot it at the time.

i love it when i discover undiscovered things in my discoveries !

two versions as i wasn't sure which worked best

http://www.funkypancake.com/blog/stuff3/2005/10/DSC05391-thumb.jpg

we had just finished practicing with the band yesterday morning when suddenly esther ran in to the marquee and said "quick daddy, you need to come now" in a really urgent voice. i was a bit concerned then she said "you need to bring your camera".

i followed as she ran out in to the field and she she said "look, it's a dummy daddy!". she was very pleased with herself. and so was i.

this isn't in focus but i like the shot all the same

here it is hiding as i originally found it

a dummy stuck down a classic waterway mk 2 drain cover.

i take a huge proportion of my floor-based pictures in Queen Anne Street in London. Here's another example.

It's a dummy. without any 6 year old's legs this time.

here is a dummy on some grass. i took two photos of it. one with legs in the background and one without.

i wasn't sure which one i liked best, so i thought i'd show you both. which do you prefer ? as usual, you can click photos for big versions.

with

or without

my long lost university flat mate jeremy (who isn't really long lost, i just haven't seen him for a while) sent me these pictures of things he found in Cornwall. lost and found.

dummy:

hat:

another hat ?

this toy looks highly loved and no doubt someone would have spent a very sad night without it.

the twin dummy bit is interesting though isn't it ? Perhaps it belongs to (a) siamese twin(s)
