signs (safety) archives

this chap looks to be sitting on top of a water jet.  or wearing some clowns trousers.  either approach increases the risk of drowning.  compared to walking across a desert.

safety starts here.  by the runner beans at the end of the allotments

a good generic sign which probably should be hung up around the internet

this was in a shop window as a spoof sign, but still very good.

sudden drops aren't welcome. they are like the sleepy jivver (jivver is jane's word for the sudden jump that sometimes happen as you fall asleep as you do an involuntary muscle spasm).

anyway, you don't want a sudden drop opening under you.

plenty of warnings here

this first sign says it all. perhaps a bit patronising, but it doesn't take much to understand what it's getting at.
070424_850_img_2003.jpg

meanwhile this one, at a building site across the road, is very confusing. makes you think (probably)

i don't know. i think it might have been more sensible to have this sign facing so people walking by the top could see it, rather than those who have just managed to climb up the sea wall.

IMG_2245.jpg

still, at least you'd have something to read on the way down if you feel off.

IMG_2247.jpg

i can't remember who sent me this sign (was it brother ed ?). whoever it was. thank you !

isn't this a great sign ? it's metal in the way all good signs used to be. And ideal for connecting to electric fences as people can't remove the sign without getting a shock. terrific thinking.

quicksand is something you don't see much of in england.

quicksetting cement? yes. quicksand? no

you can't fault their logic. if you've got no hat, you've got no boots. and if you've got no boots, you've got no job.

http://www.funkypancake.com/blog/stuff3/2006/01/DSC08284-thumb.jpg

look at these signs ! fantastic or what. i think they are genuine too.

a few minutes earlier i had walked past a van with a 'contains radioactive material' sign on the back.

it's funny how days like that happen.

we went for a family outing to the Cotswold Wildlife Park yesterday and it was very good.

i knew it would be good when i saw this sign, which covers so many different categories and includes the word 'poop' ! Expect lots of pictures of animals over the next few days.

how fantastic is this great medley. i especially like the people falling up and down things.

so that's how the dinosaurs dies out.

there's real movement in this sign. it just shows what can happen if you have one leg longer than the other.

http://www.funkypancake.com/blog/stuff3/DSC05078-thumb.jpg

and all this because people weren't allowed to crowd surf.

it makes no sense.

nice use of sticky tape to keep this sign on a stick.

big nose ugly guy sent me these excellent photos of the signs at the back of the British Museum. these signs have only been up for about a month and i was planning on searching them out myself. now i don't have to ! thanks big nose, and good luck with your emigration.

climbing on lions is never a good idea

i like the understated comments on this site safety sign.

there should be similar signs for websites.

we're all still thinking about the fragility of life.

how do you deal with hooligans and other brutes ? if you are in a train station you have them dragged away by tractor.

but even tractors have limits.

i received this sign in a fancy text message to my phone. unfortunately i managed to delete the message that went with it so didn't spot who it was from or where it was from.

so if it's you, thank you and please let me know !

from jeremy.

no dwarves. always run away from old flames. don't go in the box. go in the box. phone for sausages. all very strange

oh no - these beer barrels are going to throw themselves off this ledge. there's a bad joke in here somewhere. i'm sure you'll find it for me.

where do you go if you need an emergency stop sign in an emergency ? and how would you stop a delivery of emergency emergency stop signs ?

emergency is one of those words that if you repeat out loud to yourself enough times loses its sense and becomes just sounds. and it looks weird (as does the word weird)

tree surgeons dressed in clean gowns lie trees down on their operating tables and place them under anaesthetic (like i stand any chance of spelling that correctly!)

i always wondered how this happens. and now we know.

the same can happen on the web apparently. you go to a website, stay their too long, and before you know it the world has grown up around you and you are left stranded on a tiny piece of sand.

when you see a sign like this you want to look up and see what the danger is thus risking the danger they warn you against.

they should ban such signs for safety reasons
