genders on a sign

there's something excellent about how new zealanders do their signs.  they add much more detail than you'd get in a typical british slapshod sign.

take this chap for example.- he's got trousers, separate feet and hand a rather broken arm with a suitcase hanging from it.

the extra detail don't always make for a better picture, but they are great to look at

there's something not quite right about the joined hands here.  unless they are body popping.  or the one behind is chasing the one in front with a scythe

i think i've probably taken a picture of this before, but it's still a goody, so worth showing again

080706_850_img_9505.jpg

this is a bit of a mystery.  it's a black wheel chair and a strange yellow one all a bit mixed up.  kezia was confused

070901_850_img_4746.jpg

what's on the end of the stick (vic) ?

kezia said this sign must mean elderly people are people over 30 years old.  but she also told me people put cucumbers on their eyes so they look like people with cucumber eyes, so i don't believe everything she says.  so i suggest you don't either.

i love these old people signs which show a little old lady pushing an old man down the street. "you be careful dear" she's shouting whilst pushing him over.

or is she tickling him ? or stealing his purse ?

great use of the word 'vicinity' too.

(thanks to Dan for this)

the person on the left is definately floating away. but when you look at it again, i think they are both floating.

here's a sign from a german escalator. there's a dog sign in there, but the most intriguing one is the bottom right. it looks like her red scarf is made from the same material as her shoe heel. crazy belgians.

you might have heard about the diana memorial garden ? it's been a bit of a classic - originally a nice idea but went all a bit wrong when people slipped in the water channel. oh well

it's actually looking very nice now

and see how many categories i can put it in: no dogs, no cycles, people, royalty and slippery floor

i like to get my perspective all wonky, but i tried to show you just how large this pedestrian crossing sign is. it's quite high up and contains a life sized person !

it's on little britain so it's no wonder it's a bit strange

hoorah for napster and quickly being able to find The End by the Doors whilst i write this post. obviously you can't hear it, but i can and that's great.

here's a belgian sign warning about children crossing. here it is in context with my lovely wife jane wearing her rain coat because belgium is always rainy.

the devils definately, non-literally, in the detail in this, so i urge you to click to inspect the fullness.
