photographers often get mislaid, so it's best to label them. clipping a label to their ear seems to work best

esther did a two day orchestra school thing over the weekend which culminated in a concert yesterday afternoon. as usual every parent became a private archivist and we all enjoyed the concert through our own glass telescopes.

a true professional can set up his camera and hold a teacake and crumpet on his plate without them falling off.  he's learnt well.

i went on a wedding photography course yesterday. not because i plan to do any weddings (i definitely don't), but because i'm interested in all the different bits

070704_350d_img_0604.jpg

i asked the couple to hop to a tree, which they did. which was quite impressive in high heels (for the bride at least)

you have to be alert in these situations. here a fellow coursee looks for brides and grooms up trees.
070704_350d_img_0625.jpg

we were encouraged to frame the couple around objects. i chose a bin

we even got to go to a church for shots. very handy during the rain.

and the final get-a-way

you can see a few other wedding photos i took here on my other flickr repository

i need to explain what's going on here. i'm taking a picture of a traffic warden who is taking a picture of the man in a brown jacket. he's taking a picture of the white van, which is a congestion charge van parked in a no parking area. meta-enough ?

there's professional photographers all over the place at the moment. here are three separate lots i've seen over the last couple of days

i'm not the first one to suggest that a cheap, sturdy digital camera for kids would be a great idea. this proves it's not a new idea !

i went to a conference where Commissioner Hair-do was speaking. it was interesting to see how she was beemed around the place, but also interesting to see the photographer (dressed in her finest casuals) climbing all over the furniture.

here are a load of people with digital SLRs all climbing over the ruined Abbey in Reading.

That's Abbey as in church rather than the building society

jane called me in to kezia's room to look at what she was doing

she has her pretend camera on my tiny tripod and has set up a shoot with her doll (which she's put on some books so she's the right height). i was so proud !

here's a picture of andrew's camera with its broken screen which is quite pretty in a strange way.

the interviewing chap (rather than the interviewee who i didn't recognise) looks really angry. the sound man has responded by bashing him with the hairy thing.

no one exciting or excited here for sure.

esthe's school homework was to take a picture of her house by day and night ! she's only 6 but took to my digital SLR very naturally.

stranded camera man

these chaps had 'oculars rather than cameras but they still looked great in their high viewings.

here's benjamin using his camera on my tripod

and here's his brother joseph doing the same thing

much continued media interest in the events of last week. today people were filming outside City Hall where a book of condolences has been set up.

i feel like such a grown up. just got a Canon EOS350D for non-everyday photography. delicious.

now i've got to learn about proper photography and looking down the little hole instead of the telly thing on the back.
