a plate full of goodness

here's some items leant to our recent visitors which they returned to me on a plate. the mobile phones (in case you were wondering) are called charlie and arnold. good friends.

cruise ships

part of my morning walk to work from the bus stop in town involves walking past parked up cruise ships. it was nice to see Queen Elizabeth yesterday morning making her first visit to auckland

there have been loads. so here are a couple.

live better electrically

these stickers were on the door in a family holiday home we stayed at recently.

they pointed to a time when electricity was new

and dentists enjoyed puns

and when computer games were something you had to go to the arcades for

these electricity stickers are particularly good and perhaps say more about the progress of electricity rollout in new zealand to rural areas at the time than anything else. but still excellent vintage stuff

my father in law

pancake day

ok, so we're only 13 hours ahead of uk time here, but we thought we'd fast forwards a few weeks to pancake day. jane's parents have been staying with us for the last 4 weeks and are heading home tomorrow evening so it seemed like a good idea

only one ended up on the floor. i didn't eat any (egg allergy) but did have a go at throwing !

it was our daughter's first proper concert too. what a way to start a life of concert going

it's exciting to find big solid buildings in new zealand as there aren't many about. here's one which has been a shop almost since time began (in NZ)

one of the highlights we give to visitors to new zealand from overseas is a little guided taste of our fine (and not so fine) confectionaries

pineapple lumps (covered in chocolate) don't seem to go down too well despite them being a national delicacy
